Just hours earlier, China’s Minister of Transportation Li Shenglin and his Israeli counterpart, Yisrael Katz, had signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on a multibillion dollar project inside Israel that some say could constitute an alternative trade route to the Suez Canal. Dr. Dore Gold: The Political Battle Over “Occupation” Narrative

Edmond Levy’s committee has restored Israel’s legal narrative about its rights in Judea and Samaria. There is a huge difference in how a compromise will look if Israel comes to the table as “foreign occupiers,” or as a party that has just territorial claims.

Kadima MKs work to depose Shaul Mofaz as party leader

Mere months after replacing Tzipi Livni, Mofaz will either be pressured to quit, or forced into an election for party head.

Kadima officials are working to depose Shaul Mofaz from his role as party head, Haaretz learned on Monday, citing the outgoing vice prime minister’s weak poll numbers.

The reported plan came as Kadima seemed to edge closer to a full-on split, with former minister Tzachi Hanegbi spearheading efforts to convince at least seven Kadima MKs – the minimum required to create a new faction – to break off and rejoin the coalition of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Arab carjacking gang received nasty surprise when what appeared to be a female driver was in fact, an armed reserves soldier.

By Maayana Miskin

A reserves soldier reported Saturday night that an Arab gang in Samaria (Shomron) had attacked him, apparently in an attempt to steal his weapon. The incident occurred at the Shavei Shomron junction.

An initial investigation has led security forces to believe that the gang mistook the soldier, who has long hair, for a woman. Carjacking gangs in Judea and Samaria often target female drivers, apparently believing them to be an easier target.

After attacking the thieves realized that the “woman driver” was in fact an armed male soldier, a fact that may have been a factor in his escape. Continue Reading »
