In an interview with the Israel Hayom newspaper, US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman spoke about the Trump administration’s stance on moving the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

US Ambassador David Friedman’s first stop on the job in Israel was the Western Wall, where a simple prayer at the Biblical site, turned into a lager diplomatic statement.

Friedman, who is a practicing Orthodox Jew, headed to Jerusalem’s Old City right after he landed at Ben-Gurion International Airport.

Reuters bureau chief censures US envoy over ‘Nakba Day’ desecration

 

Israel bureau chief for Reuters criticized the new US Ambassador on Twitter for announcing his arrival in Israel to begin working on May 15th, or as biased reporter pointed out, ‘Nakba Day’.

Newly-appointed US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman is set to arrive in Israel next Monday, beginning his service in the Jewish state a week ahead of President Trump’s first visit to Israel since taking office in January.

On Tuesday, a Twitter account in Friedman’s name confirmed that he would be heading to Israel on May 15th.

It appears the new US Ambassador to Israel will live & receive guests in Jerusalem

 

As the Trump administration continues to mull over its embassy move, it appears Ambassador Friedman will be working and entertaining official guests in the Jewish capital, not the US Embassy in Tel Aviv has been customary.

As the Trump administration continues to weigh a possible move of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to the Israeli capital of Jerusalem, newly-sworn in Ambassador to Israel David Friedman is settling into his new job – and looking for a new house.

While the Ambassador already owns a private residence in Jerusalem’s Talbiya neighborhood, State Department officials ruled out his request to work out of the home, saying that it does not meet the logistical requirements necessary for the Ambassador’s office or residence, where foreign officials are received for official events. US Senate confirms Trump’s lawyer, David Friedman to be next Ambassador to Israel

 

Friedman who was confirmed along party lines is known for his inflammatory language against those with whom he had political disagreements, such as describing former President Obama an anti-Semite.

The US Senate on Thursday narrowly confirmed President Donald Trump’s nominee for ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, a bankruptcy lawyer aligned with the Israeli right.

The vote was 52 to 46, almost exclusively along party lines.

Only two Democrats, Senators Robert Menendez and Joe Manchin, joined Trump’s fellow Republicans in backing Friedman.

CNN reported on Thursday that inflammatory rhetoric said by President Trump’s nominee for US ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, had been focused mainly against J-Street and liberal American Jews, saying they ‘don’t support Israel, don’t support traditional Jewish values.’
