Ahead of Embassy opening on May 16, Guatemalan flag hoisted in Jerusalem

Although the new Guatemalan membassy will officially open on May 16, two days after the US inaugurates the relocation of its embassy to Jerusalem, residents of the Israeli capital were pleased to see the Guatemalan flag flying over the city.

Guatemala raised its flag at the site of its new embassy in Jerusalem on Tuesday, ahead of its official opening next week following the inauguration of the United States’ own new mission in the city.

PLO ‘Throwing a Fit’ Demanding Apology Over Eurovision Flag Policy

 

PLO representatives have denounced the ‘shameful, totally biased & unacceptable decision’ from the Eurovision song contest organizers after a document was leaked banning the flags of all non-UN member state, including the Palestinian Authority flag.

The Palestinians demanded an apology on Saturday from the organizers of Eurovision, who are already under fierce criticism after a document leaked forbidding certain flags, such as the Basque and Palestinian ones.

In a letter addressed to Jean-Paul Philippot, the president of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and obtained by AFP, Saeb Erekat, the number two of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), denounced a “shameful, totally biased and unacceptable decision” and demanded “its immediate cancellation.” Continue Reading »

Israeli flag used as welcome mat to a Jordanian city hall entrance

 

Signs inviting people to enter Ma’an city hall, are requested to step on Israel’s flag.

Citizens arriving at the Ma’an city hall in Jordan are greeted with an Israeli flag spread on the floor and the demand to step on it.

The flag was placed right at the entrance in condemnation of “Israel’s acts of massacre in Gaza,” thus “forcing” anyone entering the building to step on it.

“We saw fit as a local council to put the flag of the Zionists at the entrance to the building, so every person in Ma’an will step on it,” the mayor said. Continue Reading »
