Israelis send wheelchairs to 270 disabled Guatemalan kids

Before Guatemala, thousands of the inexpensive and specially designed wheelchairs have been provided in the past few years to the children of 17 developing countries, with funding from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ MASHAV Agency for Int’l Development Cooperation.

“The smile of the children who received the chairs will reflect the friendship and brotherhood between our peoples,” said President of Guatemala Jimmy Morales as 270 colorful child-friendly wheelchairs were distributed to disabled children in a ceremony at the Israeli Embassy in Guatemala.

270 disabled children in Guatemala received Wheelchairs of Hope from Israel at no charge.

Ahead of Embassy opening on May 16, Guatemalan flag hoisted in Jerusalem

Although the new Guatemalan membassy will officially open on May 16, two days after the US inaugurates the relocation of its embassy to Jerusalem, residents of the Israeli capital were pleased to see the Guatemalan flag flying over the city.

Arab League bullies Guatemala in letter to dissuade embassy move to Jerusalem

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed his dissatisfaction with President Morales’s intention to relocate his country’s embassy to Jerusalem, telling the Guatemalan President to avoid any action that could affect the future, of what was considered, ‘friendly relations.’

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Thursday urged Guatemala to cancel its decision to relocate its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the official Palestinian Authority Wafa news agency reported.

Relations between Israel and Guatemala have been very warm. President Morales announced in December that he was in favor in relocating the Guatemalan embassy in Israel to Jerusalem following US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
