At least 2 Gaza rockets strike open fields near southern Israeli towns




The Israeli military confirmed late Friday that at least two rockets fired by Palestinians in Gaza landed in communities near the border.

Just moments earlier, rocket sirens sounded in Israeli towns adjacent to the border with the Gaza Strip. The sirens were heard in Sderot and the Sha’ar Hanegev regional council.

Gaza Fires Rocket at Israel

IDF units are searching the area for the projectile. There were no injuries in the attack. Rocket sirens sounded in the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council in the area before the rocket fell.

Earlier, citizens in the area reported hearing an explosion.

The IAF launched air strikes on two Hamas targets in northern Gaza early on Sunday in retaliation for a Palestinian rocket attack on Ashkelon on Saturday night. The incoming rocket set off warning sirens, sending Israeli residents fleeing for cover, and an Iron Dome anti-rocket battery intercepted the projectile in the skies over southern Ashkelon. The Israeli Air Force struck a Hamas weapons manufacturing facility in the Gaza Strip early Thursday morning in response to a rocket that had been fired from Gaza into southern Israel several hours earlier.

The rocket exploded in an open area in southern Israel. No injuries or damage were reported.

There are reports that as many as four rockets were fired from Gaza, and some residents of the south reported seeing Iron Dome missile defense batteries deploying to intercept the incoming rockets.

A Code Red siren was heard shortly beforen noon in the Eshkol Regional Council, an Israeli community close to the Israel Gaza border, and was soon followed by blasts, residents reported – indicating that a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip landed in Israel.

Israel retaliates in pre-dawn airstrike on 10 terror targets in Gaza

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday condemned a series of rocket attacks against Israel that originated in the Gaza Strip and provoked swift Israeli retaliation.

Israel bombed 29 targets in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military said, after Palestinian militants in the coastal territory fired 60 rockets into Israel in the heaviest such barrage since 2012.
