REPORT: Palestinian journalist killed by IDF was Hamas drone operator

Yasser Murtaja apparently was a veteran member of Hamas’ security apparatus who brought drones into Gaza for intelligence gathering purposes.
– Israel’s Defense Minister, “We also saw a journalist approach the border and operate a drone.”

Yasser Murtaja, the Palestinian journalist who was shot dead by Israeli soldiers during protests along the Gaza border on Friday, was actually a Hamas activist, security officials told Israeli news site Walla!.

According the the report published Tuesday morning, Murtaja had been an officer in the Hamas security apparatus in Gaza for years.

IDF report: Israeli jet downs Hamas drone over Mediterranean

 

The drone, operated by Hamas militants, was identified immediately after takeoff from Gaza and was under constant IAF surveillance.
– The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit reported, “The IDF will not allow any airspace violation and will act resolutely against any such attempt.”

The Israeli Defense Forces on Thursday intercepted a Hamas operated drone launched from the Gaza Strip.

According to a statement from the army, the drone was shot down over the Mediterranean sea by an Israeli air force jet and crashed into the water, preventing infiltration into Israeli airspace.

Israeli Air Force shoots down Hamas UAV over Gaza coastline

 

Tuesday morning the IAF dispatched an F-16 after it identified a Hamas drone take off and fly over the Gaza coastline, violating Israeli airspace.

The Israeli Air Force shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle belonging to Hamas on Tuesday morning.

The drone was shot down over the coastline in the Gaza Strip, and the IDF stated that it never penetrated Israeli territory. The military also stated that they had tracked the UAV from the moment that it launched.
