Sec. Clinton & PM Netanyahu Meet in NY After UN Speech

Netanyahu & Clinton meet for 75 minutes to reaffirm objective: Prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

The United States and Israel “share the goal” of stopping Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, a U.S. official said late Thursday after top level talks in New York between U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

(Reuters) – Speculation that Israel might attack Iranian atomic facilities alone, and soon, has soared given an unusually public dispute with the United States about how much time to allow for negotiations and sanctions to run their course before considering military action.

Obama refuses to meet Netanyahu during his visit to U.S.

White House says scheduling and election campaign are reasons for not having a meeting. WH decision comes after Netanyahu’s declaration that those (the WH) who don’t place “red lines” on Iran, have no right to give Israel a “red light.”

 

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will not meet US President Barack Obama when he visits the United states later this month for the UN General Assembly in New York. Obama will not be in New York during the three-day period Netanyahu is visiting, and noted that the US president is in the middle of an election campaign.

Iran Attack May be Delayed in Return for Bunker Buster Bombs

The United States may supply Israel with advanced Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bunker-buster bombs that can penetrate through up to 60 feet (almost 20 meters) of reinforced concrete, reports Maariv Tuesday.

This is part of a deal being worked out between the countries, which also includes the supply of refueling jets.

This equipment will make the job of demolishing Iran’s nuclear weapon production array more feasible for Israel, should it decide to do so.

Senior Iranian defense officials announced on Sunday that unmanned aerial drones manufactured by the Islamic Republic will be armed with missiles. Explaining the move, Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Mohammad Eslami said “The Revolutionary Guard launched drones during the last military drill, which, in accordance with a defense ministry plan, we are now arming with missiles.”

The report came after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Sunday that the world was not setting a clear enough ultimatum to Iran to force the regime to abandon its nuclear ambitions.

Report: Israel Assured by the U.S. that it will Join War on Its Side

WASHINGTON – When Bahrain’s foreign minister tweeted an article about Iran by Israeli’s US envoy, it underscored the shared nature of the Iranian threat, according to the envoy.

“It shows that the Iranian nuclear program is not solely an Israel concern but one of the entire Middle East,” Ambassador Michael Oren told The Jerusalem Post Thursday.

Bahraini Foreign Minister Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa tweeted a link to a piece Oren posted in The Wall Street Journal, which appeared on the website on Monday, titled “Time is short for Iran diplomacy.”

Saudi Arabia has informed Israel in recent weeks that it will shoot down any Israeli planes that fly over its airspace on their way to or from Iran.
