Yair Lapid, head of the Yesh Atid party, spoke Tuesday at the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, held at the Inbal Hotel in Jerusalem. Lapid declared that his political agenda includes making the Reform and Conservative movements – both popular in the United States – equal to orthodox Judaism in terms of state support.

Bennett will be 1st to sign Coalition Agreement, 1st to pick Portfolios

Bayit Yehudi will be the first party to sign an agreement on joining the ruling coalition being assembled by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, according to a report in Yisrael Hayom, a daily newspaper which is considered to be close to the Prime Minister.

BennettNetanyahu met with Bayit Yehudi boss Naftali Bennett Monday and the two men are expected to meet again later this week.

Yesh Atid Chairman Yair Lapid made his first Knesset speech on Sunday and said he sees his allegiance to the state as a life’s mission. “We must not ignore the issue of equal share of the burden,” he warned. “There will be no civil war. Ten percent of the population cannot threaten the remaining 90% with a civil war.”

Lieberman: Yair Lapid won’t be Foreign Minister

Former foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman accused his former deputy, Danny Ayalon, of a lack of integrity, in a Saturday television interview. Ayalon said earlier in the day that the Foreign Ministry under Lieberman “speaks loudly and carries a mini carrot.”

New MK Ayelet Shaked is already promoting a new bill that will thwart foreign nationals from enemy countries from suing Israel for damages.

New MK Ayelet Shaked (Bayit Yehudi) is already hard at work on a new Knesset bill.

MK ShakedShaked, who was sworn in on Tuesday along with the rest of the members of the 19th Knesset, is promoting a bill that will thwart any possibility that nationals from enemy countries could sue the State of Israel for damages.

The bill comes in the wake of the case filed against the State by Mustafa Dirani, a Hizbullah terrorist who held missing IAF navigator Ron Arad for several years and was believed to have information on what happened to him.

Shas Leader Aryeh Deri on Wednesday defended the prime minister’s wife Sara Netanyahu, who was subjected to harsh criticism after wearing a revealing outfit to the Knesset’s inauguration session.

“The repulsive and mean-spirited preoccupation with the prime minister’s wife’s outfit isn’t proper,” Deri wrote on his Facebook page. “Such an honorable occasion cannot be pushed aside in favor for such activity.”

Stabilizing the electoral system is the primary demand of Yisrael Beytenu leader Avigdor Liberman, as well as a key issue for likely coalition partner Yesh Atid.

In his ceremonial speech to the newly sworn-in Knesset, Netanyahu said it was wonderful that ministers and committee chairmen were able to do their jobs for four years because his last government lasted that long, but that more had to be done to ensure political stability for the future.

Bayit Yehudi leader Naftali Bennett issued a declaration of intent on Tuesday morning regarding his party’s perspective and intentions for haredi national service enlistment.

“The current situation in which thousands of haredim do not study, serve or work cannot continue,” the Bayit Yehudi chairman wrote on his official Facebook page.
