Israel’s Foreign Minister retaliates: Summons EU ambassadors for rebuke

 

 

After Israeli ambassadors to France, Britain, Spain and Italy were summoned to receive official protest regarding West Bank housing construction, Israeli Foreign Minister summons envoys from same countries to be reprimanded in Jerusalem over ‘biased and unbalanced’ stance from their perspective governments.

Following the summoning of several Israeli ambassadors to European countries to express protest at Israel’s plan to build additional settlements, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman ordered Friday morning to convene the ambassadors from Britain, France, Italy and Spain for a talk in Jerusalem, in order to clarify they are taking a constant one-sided stance against Israel. Deputy foreign minister echos Abba Eban: “The 1967 borders are Auschwitz borders!”

Deputy FM Zeev Elkin added: Likud must reject any proposal to withdraw from the West Bank, “Anyone who gives up the Jordan Valley will turn Kfar Sava into Sderot.”

 

 

Deputy Foreign Minister Zeev Elkin said Thursday that “the 1967 borders are Auschwitz borders” and therefore Likud has to reject any proposal to withdraw from the West Bank.

Jerusalem’s Top Catholic cleric will exploit Christmas address to bash Israel

Sky News reports: Archbishop Fouad Twal, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, is expected to condemn Jewish housing construction during Christmas Eve Mass.

The Latin Patriach of Jerusalem, Archbishop Fouad Twal, is expected to use his Midnight Mass sermon to criticize Israel’s continued construction of settlements in the West bank, Sky News reported on Tuesday.

According to the report, the Holy Land’s top Roman Catholic cleric will likely brand settlements an obstacle to regional stability when he addresses pilgrims at Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity on Tuesday night.

Kerry tells Abbas: US considers Israeli settlements as ‘illegitimate’

BETHLEHEM – US Secretary of State John Kerry urged Israel on Wednesday to limit settlement building, an issue that is weighing on Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

Friction over the talks has risen this past week on the back of Israeli plans, announced in tandem with its release of 26 Palestinian prisoners, for some 3,500 new homes for settlers in the West Bank and east Jerusalem.

It’s Official: Kerry says Israeli settlements not obstacle to peace

Germany backs labeling settlements products from WB

IDF Radio Reports: Berlin supports EU effort to label products originating beyond the ‘Green Line’

The German government has given its tacit approval of European Union efforts to label products manufactured in Israeli-controlled territory beyond the Green Line, Army Radio reported on Sunday morning.

The IDF-run radio station said it obtained an official German government document that was produced in response to a parliamentary motion by opposition lawmakers in Berlin. The document reportedly enunciates Germany’s stance on the issue.

“In our view, it is permissible to label products with the ‘Made in Israel’ sticker only if those products are manufactured within the 1967 borders,” reads the document obtained by Army Radio.

Is UN’s Chief Ban Ki-Moon wrong about Israeli settlements deliberate?

There he goes again. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon erroneously has asserted, for the fourth time in two years, that “all [Israeli] settlement activity in the occupied Palestinian territory, including east Jerusalem, is illegal under international law.”

What happened in Jerusalem….

Obama offered the ritual incantations about settlements being unhelpful. Nothing new here. He could have called them illegal or illegitimate. It wouldn’t have mattered — because Obama officially declared them irrelevant.

I honestly believe that if any Israeli parent sat down with those [Palestinian] kids, they’d say, ‘I want these kids to succeed.’ 

– Very true. But how does the other side feel about Israeli kids?

Consider that the most revered parent in Palestinian society is Mariam Farhat of Gaza. Her distinction? Three of her sons died in various stages of trying to kill Israelis — one in a suicide attack, shooting up and hurling grenades in a room full of Jewish students.

UN calls for immediate withdraw from settlements and sanctions against Israel

JERUSALEM (JTA) — A United Nations investigation into the impact of Jewish West Bank settlements on the Palestinian population said that Israel should immediately begin to withdraw all settlers from the territory.

The report issued Thursday by the U.N. Human Rights Council based in Geneva said that settlement violate the 1949 Geneva Conventions and that failure to withdraw could lead to a finding of war crimes at the International Criminal Court. Continue Reading »
