With a low turnout, illustrating the electoral danger that Meretz faces in the upcoming election, the perennial underdog convened Sunday a cadre of experts on medical marijuana to strengthen its base and prevent a disastrous result on March 17 that would leave the left-wing short of its most vocal champions.

Second Israel-Based Marijuana Pharmaceutical Firm Headed to Wall Street

OWC a marijuana pharmaceutical company is now in negotiations with a number of leading Israeli hospitals for pre-clinical trials to treat PTSD, fibromyalgia, and seizures.

The Israel-based One World Cannabis (OWC) company will be traded over the counter on Wall Street, joining other traded Israeli companies involved in the marijuana industry, Israeli media reported Wednesday.

One World Cannabis, which was founded only this year, is involved in research and development for marijuana-based treatments for a variety of medical conditions.

The company recently raised some $2 million from private investors in Israel, the United States and Singapore, and will hold another fundraising round soon.

Israel declines requests of being world’s medical ‘pot dealer’

 


Although Israel has the climate & know-how to be the major exporter of medical marijuana, it doesn’t want to.

 

The Czech Health Ministry would like to import medical marijuana from Israel, but the government has not arranged for local growers to export the drug.

Visiting here last month, Czech Health Minister Svatopluk Nemecek dropped by a medical marijuana operation on moshav Ein Irron. The logistic center there is operated by Bazelet — the marijuana division of the Barak Group, a medical supplier that serves five of the eight authorized growers of medical marijuana in Israel.

Medical cannabis has been getting a lot of good press in recent years. Reports and patients’ testimonies of how they benefited from ingesting the plant or its extract have spread rapidly and the Health Ministry’s medical cannabis unit issues some 50 new permits for using it weekly.

But while the demand for cannabis is soaring, many questions remain open regarding its effects. An Israeli study now aims for the first time to find out whether patients experience any after-effects, how many of them stop using it and why.

Israeli Rabbi Decrees: Grass is kosher if it’s medicinal

If grass is administered to relieve pain, then the person giving it is “performing a mitzvah,” and the person using the drug is using it “in a kosher fashion.”

Number of doctors in Israel prescribing medical marijuana to double

Likud MK  says number of physicians who prescribe medical marijuana will rise from 9 today, to 20 by year’s end.

 

The number of physicians allowed to prescribe medical marijuana will be raised from nine to 20 by the end of this year, Likud MK Haim Katz, who chairs the Knesset Labor, Social Welfare and Health Committee said on Monday. In a raucous session, Katz said that a subcomittee will be formed to discuss intensively, demands by patients groups to get medical cannabis more easily to relieve their pain and other side effects of serious illness.

Some 8,500 absentee ballots, most of which were cast by IDF soldiers, went to the Aleh Yarok (Green Leaf) party, famous for its pro-legalization platform.

The party failed to cross the 2% election threshold, receiving only 1.15% of the popular vote with 43,725 votes.
