Turkey Expects ‘Tens of Millions’ from Israel in Compensation

In a meeting with Turkish officials, Minister Livni discussed Israel’s willingness to compensate the families of those killed on the Marmara.

Justice Minister Tzippy Livni on Sunday spoke with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, discussing the possibility that Israel would pay reparations to the families of nine Turkish supporters of Hamas who were killed in 2010 aboard the Mavi Marmara, after they attempted to attack and murder IDF soldiers as part of the Gaza flotilla.

Compensation discussions over IDF raid have begun between Israel & Turkey

AFP quotes Turkey’s deputy Prime Minister as saying countries began talks over compensation for families of victims of the 2010 Mavi Marmara raid.

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister on Monday said Turkey has entered into talks with Israel regarding compensation for the families of the victims of the deadly 2010 Gaza flotilla raid, AFP reported.

“Officials delegated by the two sides will work on the compensation issue. We gave the kick-start for it today,” AFP quoted Bulent Arinc as telling reporters after a weekly cabinet meeting.

“This is a big success of Turkish foreign policy,” Arinc said.

He added that Turkey’s foreign minister “held talks with the other party and expressed the necessity to swiftly solve the issue,” AFP quoted the deputy prime minister as saying. Continue Reading »

Turkish & Israeli diplomats will meet to implement agreement

Both Israeli & Turkish diplomats will meet at a technical level over the next few days in order to discuss details of the compensation for the 9 Turks killed in the Mavi Marmara incident.

Now that Israel has issued a formal apology to Turkey and agreed to pay compensation over the Mavi Marmara killings of 2010, the first step in the process of normalizing relations between Turkey and Israel will be compensation for the Mavi Marmara victims.

Israel supplies Turkey with military hardware for 1st time since Marmara

Under pressure from Boeing & White House officials, the Israeli gov’t capitulated & ended its freeze on advanced electronic warfare systems to Turkey’s Air Force.

 

Israel has supplied advanced electronic warfare systems to the Turkish Air Force, marking the first exchange of military equipment with Turkey since relations between the two countries deteriorated in the wake of the Israeli Navy raid on the Mavi Marmara ferry in May 2010.

Netanyahu’s outreach for dialogue with Erdogan was rejected

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan refuses to speak with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, senior officials in Jerusalem revealed on Sunday, saying that Israel’s efforts at establishing a meaningful dialogue with the Turkish government had failed.
