ICC prosecutor again declines directive to investigate 2010 flotilla raid

International Criminal Court’s Prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, declines Appeals judges order to reconsider her earlier refusals, and open a formal investigation of the May 2010 IDF raid on the Mavi Marmara.

The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court on Monday again refused to open an investigation into the 2010 raid by Israeli forces of an aid flotilla heading to the Gaza strip.

Appeals judges in September ordered Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda to reconsider her earlier refusals to open a formal investigation into the May 31, 2010, raid of the Mavi Marmara.

Israeli District Court Allows Confiscation of Flotilla Ships Violating Gaza Blockade

In a major precedent which should deter future flotillas attempting to break the legally ruled blockade, the Haifa District Court now allows the state to confiscate maritime vessels, if action is taken in a timely manner.

The state can confiscate ships used in flotillas to break the IDF’s sea blockade of Gaza, the Haifa Court, sitting as a maritime court, has ruled setting a new major precedent which could deter the flotilla tactic.

The Haifa District Attorney’s Office announced the decision on Wednesday in which Deputy Haifa Court President Ron Sokol had, earlier in the week, approved the state’s request to seize the Zaytouna-Oliva ship which sailed in a September 2016 “women’s flotilla” to break the blockade. REPORT: 93 Palestinians injured as Israeli Navy intercepts Gaza flotilla

After 7,000 Palestinian protesters clashed with the IDF and Gaza sailors trying to break the sea blockade near the Israel-Gaza maritime border on Monday, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported 37 of the 93 injured were from live IDF sniper fire.

93 people were injured, with 37 from live IDF sniper fire, reported the Gaza Ministry of Health on Monday evening following intense clashes between 7,000 Palestinian protesters and IDF soldiers near the maritime boundary between the Gaza strip and Israel.

Israeli Navy makes ‘uneventful’ interception of ‘aid-less’ female boat to Gaza

 

IDF statement reports the 13 female activists were detained without incident, with their boat now en route to Ashdod Port.

The Israeli Navy on Wednesday intercepted an all-female flotilla carrying over a dozen women activists from 13 different countries attempting to breach the sea blockade on the Gaza Strip, the military confirmed.

Media reports said activists were detained without resisting and that the boat was en route to the port city of Ashdod.

Pro-Arab Israelis to meet ‘Flotilla of Women’ in Med to suggest sailing to Syria with aid

 

A group of sailors from southern Israel are planning their own flotilla to meet the pro-Hamas flotilla of women as it arrives, “If they want to talk about humanitarianism, they should sail to Syria and not Gaza. Gaza is not lacking for anything.”

‘Women’s flotilla’ to Gaza blames Israel for boats’ delay

 

The entire flotilla of 2 small vessels, carrying a few dozen women who plan on breaching Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza, had their departure delayed by the police, and a bad engine.

The flotilla to Gaza, which was set to arrive in early October carrying 30 women from around the world on two ships, got off to a late start.

One of the ships, the Amal (Hope) was forced to turn back after facing engine trouble. The second ship, the Zaytouna (Olive), set off only late in the afternoon after being delayed for many hours by local Italian police. Continue Reading »

Rabid anti-Israel Knesset Member intends to join new flotilla to Gaza

 

Arab MK Zoabi reportedly plans to join in a women-only ‘Freedom Flotilla’ to Gaza in mid-September.

MK Hanin Zoabi (Balad / Joint List) reportedly intends to join a flotilla to Gaza, some six years after she participated in a flotilla aboard the infamous Mavi Marmara, where terrorists prepared an ambush for Israeli commandos.

According to Channel 2 TV News’s website, the Freedom Flotilla will be an all-female endeavor, sailing in mid-September and expected to reach Gaza October 1.

Israel Navy watching Gaza-bound flotilla set to sail from Italy

A senior Islamic Jihad leader said his organization would end truce with Israel if the navy intercepted the flotilla, however security sources did not express particular concern over the threat.

The IDF is conducting naval intelligence to monitor the progress of a Gaza-bound flotilla that set off from Sweden at the end of May and docked at Palmero, Italy, on Monday.

Sweden to Investigate Israel Over the Marmara

According to the Swedish legal authorities, claims of “aggravated assault, aggravated theft and violation of int’l law” will be investigated since Swedes were on board the 2010 and 2012 flotillas.

Sweden launched an investigation against Israel on Thursday, over the IDF’s defense of its legal maritime blockade on the terrorist group Hamas’s enclave of Gaza in 2010 and 2012.

Mysterious Explosion Sinks the Protest Ship, ‘Gaza’s Ark’

Israel accused of ‘sabotage ‘by Pro-Hamas organizers of ‘Protest’ boat meant to breach Israeli naval blockade of Gaza.

Gaza’s Ark, a “protest” boat that was preparing to breach Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza, which is ruled by the terrorist organization Hamas, was sunk in a mysterious explosion on Tuesday.

The blast occurred in Gaza City’s port, and was preceded by an anonymous telephone call warning the guard of the ship that it was about to be blown up, organizers of the “protest” project told AFP.

The ship, a large fishing vessel which was being readied to challenge Israeli naval authority in June, sustained major damage and sunk in the shallow waters of the port, leaving three-quarters of it submerged. Continue Reading »
