ICC prosecutor again declines directive to investigate 2010 flotilla raid

International Criminal Court’s Prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, declines Appeals judges order to reconsider her earlier refusals, and open a formal investigation of the May 2010 IDF raid on the Mavi Marmara.

The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court on Monday again refused to open an investigation into the 2010 raid by Israeli forces of an aid flotilla heading to the Gaza strip.

Appeals judges in September ordered Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda to reconsider her earlier refusals to open a formal investigation into the May 31, 2010, raid of the Mavi Marmara.

The ship was trying to breach the maritime blockade Israel imposed on Gaza after the Hamas terrorist group seized control of the enclave from rival Palestinian faction Fatah in 2007 in a military coup. Continue Reading »

Israeli District Court Allows Confiscation of Flotilla Ships Violating Gaza Blockade

In a major precedent which should deter future flotillas attempting to break the legally ruled blockade, the Haifa District Court now allows the state to confiscate maritime vessels, if action is taken in a timely manner.

The state can confiscate ships used in flotillas to break the IDF’s sea blockade of Gaza, the Haifa Court, sitting as a maritime court, has ruled setting a new major precedent which could deter the flotilla tactic.

The Haifa District Attorney’s Office announced the decision on Wednesday in which Deputy Haifa Court President Ron Sokol had, earlier in the week, approved the state’s request to seize the Zaytouna-Oliva ship which sailed in a September 2016 “women’s flotilla” to break the blockade. REPORT: 93 Palestinians injured as Israeli Navy intercepts Gaza flotilla

After 7,000 Palestinian protesters clashed with the IDF and Gaza sailors trying to break the sea blockade near the Israel-Gaza maritime border on Monday, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported 37 of the 93 injured were from live IDF sniper fire.

93 people were injured, with 37 from live IDF sniper fire, reported the Gaza Ministry of Health on Monday evening following intense clashes between 7,000 Palestinian protesters and IDF soldiers near the maritime boundary between the Gaza strip and Israel.

Arab MK Zoabi reportedly plans to join in a women-only ‘Freedom Flotilla’ to Gaza in mid-September.

MK Hanin Zoabi (Balad / Joint List) reportedly intends to join a flotilla to Gaza, some six years after she participated in a flotilla aboard the infamous Mavi Marmara, where terrorists prepared an ambush for Israeli commandos.

According to Channel 2 TV News’s website, the Freedom Flotilla will be an all-female endeavor, sailing in mid-September and expected to reach Gaza October 1.

Mysterious Explosion Sinks the Protest Ship, ‘Gaza’s Ark’

Gaza’s Ark, a “protest” boat that was preparing to breach Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza, which is ruled by the terrorist organization Hamas, was sunk in a mysterious explosion on Tuesday.

The blast occurred in Gaza City’s port, and was preceded by an anonymous telephone call warning the guard of the ship that it was about to be blown up, organizers of the “protest” project told AFP.

The ship, a large fishing vessel which was being readied to challenge Israeli naval authority in June, sustained major damage and sunk in the shallow waters of the port, leaving three-quarters of it submerged. Continue Reading »
