A statement issued by the European Union on Tuesday seemed to suggest it supports Palestinian Authority Arabs’ rights to throw stones during non-violent protests.

The statement, released on Tuesday by the spokesperson of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, criticized Israel for convicting PA Arab Bassem Tamimi of dispatching stone-throwers and protesting illegally.

An Israeli court convicted Tamimi on Sunday, according to an AFP report. The 45-year-old was charged with soliciting stone-throwing based on evidence that he directed such incidents from the roof-tops. Continue Reading »

Nine Palestinians from the Ramallah area have been charged with attempting to kidnap Israelis, it was cleared for publication on Sunday.

The Shin Bet internal security service said in a statement that in mid-March the Palestinians tried to kidnap a mother and her baby daughter near the West Banksettlement of Beit El.

A religious family narrowly escaped injuries after its car was attacked by Arab rioters in Jerusalem this week, the religious radio station Radio Kol Chai reported on Friday.

The incident occurred as the family members were making their way home from prayers at the Western Wall. They were caught in a Nakba Day demonstration held at the Damascus Gate area, the report said.

An emergency medical crew narrowly escaped being lynched this week while responding on the scene of an injurious car accident near Jerusalem, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Friday.

The fateful call came on Tuesday; a car carrying a group of Palestinian youths from east Jerusalem swerved off the road and hit a safety barrier near the village of Hizm.

A bus filled with children ages 3 to 13 was suddenly pelted with rocks and concrete cinder blocks hurled by Arab teens in Jerusalem’s mixed Jewish-Arab neighborhood of Abu Tur.

Rivka and Eilat, two eighth-grade students living in the area who were on the bus at the time, told Arutz Sheva about the experience.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh called for another Intifada on Monday, this time aimed at supporting Arab prisoners in Israeli jails, who initiated a mass hunger strike two weeks ago, the Ma’an news agency reported.

The hunger strike is the Palestinian Authority’s latest ploy to garner international sympathy in an attempt to bypass negotiations with Israel and win UN recognition as an independent state.

At a rally in Gaza City, Haniyeh urged Arab and Islamic nations to intervene and support detainees.

Three members of the Shukrun family were hospitalized overnight Thursday following an attack by a group of young Arabs. Two of the family members were moderately wounded in the attack, while the third suffered light injuries.

Police said they are looking into the possibility that the attack was nationalistically-motivated, but are exploring other possibilities as well

“I tried running away with my children and sister, but they kept coming back to hit us,” Tzipi Shukrun told Ynet. “They kids are traumatized.”

Sheikh Raed Salah is back in Israel, and making trouble. The rabble rousing sheikh from Umm El Fahm took part Thursday in a march protesting Israel’s victory in the 1948 Independence War, and the fact that Arabs lost some territory as a result of their defeat.

Several thousands of people reportedly took part in the march in the Galilee, including Knesset Members Ahmed Tibi and Jamal Zahalka.

A terror attack was thwarted Saturday following the arrest of two Palestinian teens by Border Guard and police officers, near the Tapuach Junctionin the West Bank.

The two, both 17, took a taxi to the junction and upon arrival began walking towards the checkpoint.
