Gazan Shot Dead Near Border Fence

A male Palestinian Authority Arab shot dead by IDF troops after damaging the Gaza border fence.

A Palestinian Authority Arab man was shot dead by IDF troops in northern Gaza on Friday, medics told the Bethlehem-based Ma’an news agency.

Gaza health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra told Ma’an that Anwar Muhammad al-Mamlouk, 22, was killed by Israeli fire. He said another man was seriously wounded and taken to the a local hospital by paramedics.

National Poll: 45% of Israelis support unilateral withdrawal from most of the West Bank

Rafi Smith poll: 80% of Israelis support IDF presence in West Bank in the case of unilateral (civilian) withdrawal until ‘peace agreement’ is signed.

 

Almost half of the Israeli population supports a unilateral withdrawal from large sections of the Palestinian territories based on the pre-1967 lines, according to a poll conducted by Rafi Smith for the Blue White Future movement.

The poll was released ahead of an election debate between the “Zionist parties” hosted by the movement at Tel Aviv University on Sunday.

Forty-five percent of respondents answered they would back a unilateral withdrawal while maintaining the large settlement blocs including western Samaria, Kedumim, Jerusalem, Ma’aleh Adumim and Gush Etzion.

Israeli security forces arrested a resident of East Jerusalem over suspicions that he handed over intelligence concerning major sites in the capital to Hezbollah agents, a lifted gag order revealed on Sunday.

Israeli soldiers have shot and killed a Palestinian man who approached a fence near the border with Israel, medics said on Monday.

An Israeli military spokeswoman confirmed the shooting took place after darkness fell on Sunday, saying troops opened warning shots when a man walking west of the border in a riverbed failed to heed orders to leave the buffer area Israel maintains to try and prevent cross-border attacks. Muslims around the world slaughter sheep, cows and goats during the four-day holiday to commemorate the sacrifice by their forefather Abraham. But accidents are comment as people frequently buy animals to slaughter at home instead of relying on professional butchers.

Security guards on the Israeli border with Jordan were surprised on Sunday during a routine security check, when the X-ray machine used to check luggage, suddenly revealed three snakes that were hidden in the bag of a Palestinian man from Ramallah.

Muslim Brotherhood says it will not meet with Israel

Police discover a weapons cache in East Jerusalem

Jerusalem police announced on Tuesday that over they past month they uncovered a massive weapons cache hidden inside a vegetable shop in east Jerusalem, with dozens of weapons, ammunition, pipe bombs, Hamas literature, and a quarter of a million shekels.

Police arrested a number of Israeli Arabs and illegal infiltrators from the West Bank over the past month, though the investigation is still ongoing so details are under a media gag order.

Two brothers, the central suspects, were indicted over the weekend in the Jerusalem Magistrate Court and will be in detention until the end of proceedings.

Baby Muhammad was born in a Nablus hospital to Dallal Ziben, a 32-year-old mother-of-two from a village in the northern West Bank, whose husband Ammar is currently serving 32 life sentences in an Israeli prison.

Palestinians are not permitted to receive conjugal visits, and although Dallal Ziben has not set eyes on her husband for 15 years, she says she fell pregnant after being artificially inseminated by sperm her 37-year-old husband managed to sneak out of Hadarim prison in central Israel. Meshal loses control of Hamas military wing as authority moves to Gaza leadership

Hamas denies Haaretz report on results of a secret election but senior officials confirm Ismail Haniyeh won by significant margin; Khaled Meshal expected to keep post but lose control of budget, military.

Hamas political bureau head Khaled Meshal, who now resides in Qatar, is expected to keep his post after an internal vote by the organization’s leadership later this month. But sources have told Haaretz that Hamas leaders have decided to transfer some of Meshal’s critical areas of authority to the leadership in the Gaza Strip, including control of the organization’s budget and of its military wing.

Israel’s neighbors gearing up for Land Day– Lebanese newspaper Daily Star on Friday reported that the country has raised its alert level ahead of Land Day protests planned by Palestinians living in Lebanon. Earlier this week, the newspaper reported that some 30,000 people are scheduled to participate in processions across the country.

Global Loser’s March to Jerusalem

This Friday, March 30, 2012, a motley collection of leftists, aging anti-colonialists and assorted other anti-semites intend to storm Israel’s borders (non-violently) from all directions in a “Global March to Jerusalem (GM2J),” Israel’s capital.

The idea is to stage a massive media stunt to demonstrate international solidarity with the Arabs who live in what formerly was known as Jewish Palestine and now aspire to yet another nation state of their own. Not surprisingly, the GM2J is sponsored by the Iranian regime in conjunction with its long-time terror proxies HAMAS and Hizbollah.

IMF: Palestinians may face cuts without more aid

Report estimates financing gap of about $500 million, urges PA to cut expenditures; Aid donors meeting in Brussels next week

 

WASHINGTON – The International Monetary Fund on Saturday urged donors to meet their aid pledges to the Palestinian Authority, warning that unless funding was forthcoming it would be forced to cut public wages and social benefits to address a deepening fiscal crisis.

The IMF said the aid-dependent Palestinian economy had entered a “difficult phase” with a severe liquidity crunch worsening since last year due to a drop in aid from Western backers and wealthy Gulf states and Israeli restrictions on trade.
