Gaza Terrorists Fire Kassam Rockets into Ashkelon

For the 1st time since Operation Pillar of Defense, Gaza terrorists release rockets on southern Israel. No one hurt as one Kassam rocket hit the city of Ashkelon.

Gaza terrorists fired on southern Israel on Tuesday morning for the first time since the Pillar of Defense counter-terror operation in late 2012.

One rocket hit the city of Ashkelon, but did not cause injury. A second rocket apparently hit an open field near the city.

Residents said they had no warning of the impending strike.

IDF’s Defense Against Gaza Terrorism: Plant Trees

IDF brings back 1940’s-1950’s ‘defensive forestation’ strategy, now to protect Israelis from Gaza terrorists’ fire. They can’t hit you if they can’t aim at you.

To protect Israelis living near Gaza, the IDF is using the latest technology. But the army is also going back to a decades-old, low-tech solution: defensive forestation.

The tactic is based in the simple concept of reducing terrorists’ accuracy by blocking their view. Defensive forestation was a common technique from the first years of the modern state of Israel to the 1960s.

Trees were planted close together near military or civilian buildings in order to make it harder for terrorists to aim, and to provide some cover from fire. Continue Reading »

As Rockets are fired at TLV & J’lem, Barak Calls Up More IDF Reserves

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak expanded on Friday the call-up of reserve soldiers, a spokesman said, as Israel pushed ahead with a major offensive against terrorists in Gaza.

“The defense minister has this evening ordered the mobilisation of new reserve forces,” Josh Hantman told AFP shortly after two rockets fired from Gaza hit an open field in Gush Etzion, near Jerusalem, and another landed in the sea by central Tel Aviv.

The reservists will be joining the soldiers already moving toward Gaza, after IDF Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz instructed forces to accelerate preparations for a ground operation.

Three IDF Soldiers Wounded by Rocket Attack

3 IDF soldiers were wounded Friday when a rocket hit the Eshkol region.

Terrorists have launched 507 rockets in 3 days.

Three soldiers were wounded Friday afternoon when Gaza terrorists hit the Eshkol region with a short-range rocket. One of the soldiers is in moderate condition, and the other two are in light condition.

They were taken to Soroka hospital in Be’er Sheva for treatment.

Since the beginning of Operation Pillar of Defense on Tuesday, Gaza terrorists have fired 507 rockets at Israeli communities. Twenty-six of the rockets hit populated areas, including at least three that directly hit homes. Continue Reading »

IDF Commanders Prepare Their Troops for Ground Invasion

Thousands of IDF troops gather outside Gaza to begin preparing for ground operations.

IDF commanders began Friday morning to brief their troops in advance of a possible ground operation in Gaza. Thousands of reservists have been called up for duty, and a total of at least 16,000 will be summoned for service.

While troops gathered outside Gaza, terrorists in the area continued their attacks on civilian communities in southern Israel. More than 40 rockets have been fired since Friday morning.

Four Israel civilians suffered shrapnel wounds from rockets fired by Gaza terrorists during the Sunday morning rush hour to school and work.

All of the victims were evacuated to Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva, where they are being treated for light injuries. Grad Missile Hits Be’er Sheva After IAF kills Hamas Terrorist

Gaza-based terrorists fired two Grad missiles at the southern Israeli city of Be’er Sheva early Sunday morning.

The missiles exploded in an open area near the city and did not cause any physical injuries or damages. The city announced that schools would be closed Sunday because of the attack.

Overnight Saturday, IAF aircraft struck a terrorist cell in Gaza, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit announced.

According to the announcement, the terrorists were making final preparations to launch a rocket into southern Israel. Direct hits at the target were scored, and secondary explosions were heard, said the IDF. Continue Reading »

IAF Jets Bomb Terror Tunnel in Northern Gaza

After numerous rocket attacks on southern Israel, IAF aircraft hit & destroy terror tunnel in northern Gaza

IAF aircraft hit a terror tunnel in northern Gaza on Tuesday night, the IDF spokesman said in a statement.

According to the statement, a direct hit was identified and all Israeli aircraft returned safely to their bases.

The attack came in response to high trajectory fire into Israeli territory, said the statement. Earlier Tuesday night, terrorists fired three Kassam rockets at southern Israel. One rocket hit the city of Netivot, while the two others fell in open areas of the Negev. Continue Reading »
