Former Defense Minister Barak criticized PM Netanyahu for not having accepted the US station advanced weapons in Israel, something which may have presented a significant leap in Israeli technological & operational capabilities, as well as upgrading the security cooperation between the two countries.

Family of Killed Gaza Flotilla Activist Sues Ehud Barak in U.S.

 

Being sued in a civil court leaves no possibility for the former prime minister of Israel of being arrested.

Relatives of a US citizen killed in Israel’s 2010 storming of the a Turkish-led Gaza-bound flotilla are suing former prime minister Ehud Barak for the raid, in which nine activists died.

Furkan Dogan, a 19-year-old dual Turkish-US citizen, was filming on the flotilla attempting to circumvent Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip when IDF commandos intervened.

He was shot five times aboard the MV Mavi Marmara, including point blank in the head, according to his lawyers.

Ehud Barak backs Israeli life-saving start-up with $1M

Former PM Barak invests $1 million in Reporty, start-up company app to help emergency & rescue services quickly identify, locate & get to individuals in danger.

Former prime minister Ehud Barak has invested $1 million in Reporty Homeland Security, an Israeli start-up involved in the development of a global platform for real-time reporting, the use of which could save lives. The Reporty system helps emergency and rescue services to quickly locate and get to individuals in distress.

Reporty was founded in 2014 by CEO Amir Elichai, who teamed up with Pinchas Buchris, former director-general of the Defense Ministry and ex-commander of the Israel Defense Forces’ 8200 intelligence unit. Continue Reading »

Forty-one years ago this month, in April 1973, in one of the IDF’s boldest operations ever, a young Ehud Barak dressed himself as a woman, entered Beirut with a group of soldiers from the elite Sayeret Matkal unit and assassinated several key players from the Palestinian Liberation Organization in retribution for the Munich massacre at the Summer Olympics in 1972.

Hagel’s Meeting with Barak is Described as ‘Warm’

Barak: Peace deal with Palestinians is impossible at this time

Israel’s Defense Minister says at AIPAC conference in Washington, ‘fully fledged agreement is not reasonable’ and suggests interim agreement  for immediate future. ‘If that is unobtainable we should consider unilateral action,’ Barak added.

Syria denies Israel targeted missile convoy on way to Lebanon

In a letter sent to UN Security Council, Syria rejected statements made by U.S. officials, claiming Israel had struck a research center and not a convoy carrying anti-aircraft missiles to Hezbollah.

 

Syria‘s UN ambassador says there is “no truth” to reports that an Israeli airstrike last week, which seriously damaged a scientific research center, had targeted a convoy heading to neighboring Lebanon.

International media reported on July 31 that Israel launched an overnight air strike on Syria-Lebanon border.

In addition to the approval of 2,612 housing units in Jerusalem’s Givat Hamatos, Defense Minister Ehud Barak has green-lighted the construction of an additional 523 units in the settlement of Gva’ot, located in the West Bank’s Gush Etzion region, Ynet learned Wednesday.

The Israel Air force struck Hamas leader Ismael Haniyeh’s headquarters in the northern Gaza Strip early Saturday morning, according to the IDF Spokesman’s Office.

Haniyeh was not at the headquarters during the IAF strike, Israel Radio reported. It was not immediately clear whether there were any casualties in the strike.
