Turkey dispatches second humanitarian aid ship to Gaza

 

For the 2nd time since the Reconciliation Agreement with Turkey, a vessel carrying more than 3,000 tons of humanitarian aid is set to dock at Ashdod Port for a preliminary security inspection, before being trucked to Gaza.

A ship transporting humanitarian aid left the Turkish port of Mersin for the Gaza Strip on Friday, the second such shipment since the reconciliation deal between Israel and Turkey was struck in June, Haaretz reports.

REPORT: Israel Allowing Turkey Plan $5 Billion Gaza Seaport

 


According to a Turkish daily on Friday, plans to reconstruct  Hamas’ seaport began with a Turkish group meeting with Palestinian Authority & Hamas officials, as well as Israeli officials.

In the midst of ongoing normalization talks with Israel, Turkey is planning to invest $5 billion in reconstructing the Hamas stronghold of Gaza including a seaport – which Israel has fiercely opposed due to the blatant threat of weapons smuggling.

Turkey crusades Palestinian cause by rebuilding 9 Gaza mosques for Hamas

The Turkish government has its hands full with the ongoing war next door in Syria and with its domestic Kurdish insurgency, yet it continues to maintain a foot in the Palestinian pie.

The Turkish government will begin rebuilding nine mosques that were damaged during fighting in the 2014 war in Gaza, the Hurriyet Daily News reported on Monday.

Palestinian Authority Against Turkish PM’s visit to Gaza

Senior official in the PA says that since Gaza is not an independent Palestinian state & Hamas is not the legitimate representative of the Palestinians,  diplomatic visits should be via Ramallah.

Israel gives ‘OK’ for Turkey to build hospital in Gaza

In a gesture to Turkey, Jerusalem permits entry of construction materials as part of easing of Gaza blockade

Israel has authorized Turkey to transport construction materials into the Gaza Strip in order to build a Turkish-funded hospital in the coastal territory, Turkish daily Hurriyet reported on Monday.

According to the report, the hospital will be inaugurated within a year’s time, and the ceremony will be attended by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Israeli government gave the authorization earlier this month after studying a list of materials the Turks were asking to import to Gaza.
