Israel’s new Gaza border anti-tunnel, security-barrier is finished

Following 3.5 years of construction, the Israel-Gaza 65 km. long, hi-tech border barrier has been completed.

The security barrier along the Israel-Gaza border has been completed, the Defense Ministry announced Tuesday.

The 65 km long barrier includes an underground component with sensors, an above-ground fence, a naval barrier, radar systems and command and control rooms to prevent infiltrations from the Gaza strip into Israeli territory.

Defense Minister, Benny Gantz stated: “The barrier, which is an innovative and technologically advanced project, deprives Hamas of one of the capabilities it tried to develop, and places an ‘iron wall’, sensors and concrete between the terror organization and the residents of the Israel’s south. Report: Egypt constructs new underground barrier with Gaza

According to the Egyptians, the 2 kilometer long wall/underground barrier is designed to prevent armed Palestinian terrorists from crossing into Egypt overland or through terror-tunnels.

Egypt has begun construction of a new border wall along the Gaza Strip, according to a report by Al Monitor.

The construction began in late January as Egypt began a series of new projects to boost security on the Gaza border and prevent infiltration by terrorist and extremist elements from Gaza.

When completed, the new wall will stretch from the Kerem Shalom Crossing to the Rafah Crossing, a distance of about two kilometers (1.2 miles). Continue Reading »

IDF construction of subterranean barrier uncovers Hamas attack-tunnel

The latest discovery of this Hamas attack-tunnel substantiates Israel’s need to expedite the construction of the subterranean security-barrier along  Israel’s border with Gaza, to prevent further underground infiltrations by heavily armed Palestinian terrorists.

A tunnel dug from the Gaza Strip into Israel has been discovered by Israeli troops, the IDF Spokesperson’s Office announced Monday evening.

The tunnel, which originates in the southern Strip, was uncovered on the Israeli side of the border in the last 24 hours during construction of an underground barrier along the Gaza border.
