Why is the Obama White House seeking to provoke Israel?

Although Israel and the United States may have different agendas, criticizing the other’s position on their merits or demerits is expected. But public scatological ad hominems has no place in an alliance between allies.

A senior Obama administration official recently went on the record with journalist Jeffrey Goldberg in calling Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “chickenshit.” A second senior official also went on the record calling Netanyahu a “coward” on the issue of Iran’s nuclear threat.

PayBack: White House rejected Ya’alon request to meet ranking gov’t officials

WASHINGTON – The US administration prevented Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon from meeting with key officials during his visit to Washington, DC, American sources told Ynet on Friday.

The defense ministry did not comment, though sources close to Ya’alon said “the aim was to meet with the security echelon, and that was what happened.”

According to new reports, the American administration has promised the new Fatah-Hamas unity government, which was sworn in this Monday, that it will convince Israel to allow that new government’s elections to be held in the eastern part of Jerusalem.

“A source that knows things,” apparently from within the Palestinian Authority (PA) or Hamas, was quoted in the Jordanian paper Al-Arab Al-Youm, reporting the American promise to work for parliamentary and presidential elections for the new unity government to be held in the Israeli capital. The White House on Thursday threatened to use its veto power against legislation that would impose new sanctions on Iran, as senators continued to promote such legislation in defiance of President Barack Obama.

The threat came hours after a bipartisan group of senators filed a new Iran sanctions measure, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

The bill, sponsored by Sens. Mark Kirk (R., Ill.) and Robert Menendez (D., N.J.), would impose tougher sanctions on Tehran if it refuses to dismantle its contested nuclear program after the end of a six-month negotiating period. Continue Reading »

Israel Steaming Over White House Leaks That Endanger Israel

Israeli officials expressed anger Friday at the White House’s decision to disclose that Israel carried out the two attacks on targets in Syria Thursday. The attacks in Latakiya and Damascus are believed to have targeted SA-8 missiles that were about to be transferred to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

U.S. Finalizing Delivery of F-16 Fighter Jets to Egypt

The White House decided to expedite transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Egypt despite Morsi’s overthrow.

The United States plans to go through with the delivery of four F-16 fighter jets to Egypt in the coming weeks, despite the overthrow of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi, U.S. officials told the Reuters news agency on Wednesday.

The clarification came as Washington deliberated whether to call the ouster of Egypt’s elected leader a military coup.

A decision to brand Morsi’s ouster a coup would, by law, require the Obama administration to halt aid to the Egyptian army.

The United States has apologized for leaking information about Israel’s alleged attack on a convoy of weapons in Syria bound for Hizbullah terrorists several weeks ago. According to reports that appeared in the Jerusalem Post over the weekend, the “leak” about the U.S. leak came from an Israel Radio correspondent, who listed details of the leak, and the apology.

After Syria Threatened Israel, White House Warns Syria on Weapons
