With Talleen Abu Hanna, a 21 yr-old Catholic Arab from Nazareth winning the Jewish State’s first ‘Miss Trans Israel’ transgender beauty pageant, she will now go to Spain where she’ll represent Israel at the ‘Miss Trans Star International’ pageant in August.

Israeli teens take 2nd place at international high school robotics competition

An Israeli high school team from Binyamina, near Haifa, came in second at the prestigious FIRST Robotics Competition in St. Louis, Missouri, held April 27-30.

The final match was a showdown between the Orbit team of students from Binyamina’s Rothschild-Hashomron High School, and an American team. Although it ended in a 2:2 draw, the defending American champion came on top due to a technicality. Continue Reading »

Israeli 15 yr-old Entrepreneurs Take 3rd Place at European Contest

Israeli teenagers won third place at a competition for young entrepreneurs held by the Junior Achievement organization in Berlin last week.

The teens presented Sit Up, a safety harness allowing children aged seven and younger to be carried on one’s shoulder, at the competition.

Start-up companies formed by teens from 37 countries participated at this year’s contest. At 15, the Israelis happened to be the youngest participants this year.

Over 20,000 students from around Europe, who founded hundreds of small companies, were involved in this year’s contest. Continue Reading »

Inspired by Charlie Hebdo, Iran to host competition for best Holocaust denial cartoon

An Iranian cultural center will reward a $12,000 prize to the artist who creates best cartoon satirizing the genocide of Jews , in ghoulish contest inspired by Charlie Hebdo images.

An Iranian cultural center announced a plan to hold a competition for Holocaust denial cartoons, in response to the massacre targeting the Charlie Hebdo magazine after it published cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed.

Iran’s House of Cartoon and the Sarcheshmeh Cultural Complex organized the competition, according to the Independent, and invited participants to submit satirical drawings on the subject of Holocaust denial by the beginning of April. Continue Reading »
