Time for Turkey & Israel to remember their deep common history

As the Turkish nation, we want nothing more then the continuance of Israel’s existence in peace & tranquility. When various figures in the Mid-East make threatening & genocidal pronouncements against the Israeli state, it disturbs us greatly & we would never let something like that happen.

I am a Turkish Muslim and every time I have a conversation with an Israeli friend, they keep asking me why the relations between Israel and Turkey have reached such a nadir, why Turkey seemingly has an antagonistic stance against Israel.

Adviser to chief of UN Golan Force kidnapped

Sky Arabia reports that Carl Kampo, Austria-born legal advisor to UNDOF the force monitoring Israel-Syria ceasefire abducted on February 7

Sky Arabia reported Monday that an advisor to the commander of the United Nations force monitoring the ceasefire in the Golan Heights () was kidnapped on February 7.

Israel-Syria minefield border fenceAccording to reports, Carl Kampo is a legal advisor from Austria. No further details were immediately available and the report has not been officially confirmed.

Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Mayadeen TV also quoted reports saying that an advisor to the UNDOF commander was abducted. Several Lebanese media outlets quoted the Sky Arabia report. Continue Reading »

Students at Oxford University to Vote on Boycotting Israel

Britain’s Oxford University students will vote later this week on a controversial motion of weather or not to boycott Israel.

Students at Britain’s prestigious Oxford University will vote this week on a highly controversial motion to boycott Israel.

 

The Oxford University Student’s Union (OUSU) is set to meet Wednesday to decide on a motion to join the international boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement “in protest of Israel’s treatment of Palestinians and its hindrance of attempts to create a Palestinian state,” The Guardian reported.

The vote comes following increased tensions on campus last week as British lawmaker George Galloway walked out of a lecture hall during a debate with an Israeli student, saying “I don’t recognize Israel and I don’t debate with Israelis,” after becoming aware of his opponent’s nationality. Arabs warn US President over Temple Mount visit: ‘Obama better follow the Muslims’ rules’

Obama must enter via ‘Lion’s Gate’ which has Muslim guards, rather than the Mughrabi Gate which is guarded by Israeli police. In this way “Muslim sovereignty” over the Temple Mount will be preserved. Sabri also cautioned Obama not to bring any Israeli officials with him to what is in reality Judaism’s most holy site.

Israel: Abbas is inciting violence ahead of Obama’s visit

The Military Police have launched an investigation into a driving blunder that has resulted in massive damage to IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz‘s security detail’s vehicle.

GantzThe Toyota Land Cruiser reportedly sustained damage estimated at hundreds of thousands of shekels to its chassis and on-board security systems after the driver attempted to cross a flooded road and failed. No one was hurt in the incident.

Terrorist’s Funeral: Violence Minimal

Majority of terror prisoners have ended their hunger strike.

The IDF and other security forces are on high alert Monday in Judea and Samaria, ready to react to any violence that accompanies the funeral of a terrorist prisoner who died in an Israeli jail.

Israel’s Arrow 3 missile defense tested successfully

Israel’s new Arrow anti-missile interceptor is designed to neutralize the Iranian Shihab 3 missiles and other similar long-range projectiles at high altitude.

IDF sources report that the U.S. funded system is set to become operational in 2016.

 

 

The Ministry of Defense carried out its first successful test of the Arrow 3 missile defense interceptor on Monday morning, firing it into space from a coastal military launching pad in central Israel.

Set to become operational in around 2016, the Arrow 3 missile defense system operates in space, traveling at twice the speed of a tank shell to leave the atmosphere.

IDF reservists attack Oscar-nominated film as ‘incitement’

Pro-IDF group produces “5 Broken Cameras — The Real Story” to expose the blatant bias of the directors & some in the movie industry against Israel.

NGO chief: We want the creators of the film charged with incitement.

The Israeli NGO Consensus recently launched an online campaign to present a counter-narrative to what it calls “the ongoing incitement against IDF soldiers in the movie ‘5 Broken Cameras,'” as stated by the organization in a statement Sunday.

Consensus, which describes its activists as “Guardians of the IDF spirit,” claims to be a non-political organization; its membership is comprised of hundreds of reserve and non-commissioned IDF officers.

Against the backdrop of the difficult coalition negotiations, Habayit Hayehudi leader Naftali Bennett offered his take on the complicated relations with the ruling Likud-Beiteinu party and his alliance with Yesh Atid Chairman Yair Lapid.

Bennett wrote on Facebook Sunday that the alliance is meant to prevent the establishment of a government without the religious Zionists that would make concessions to the Palestinians during peace negotiations.
