First US state to illegalize boycotts based on nationality hinders BDS efforts

#BDSfail: South Carolina’s newly signed law prohibits public entities from contracting with companies that boycott ‘based on religion, race, gender, color, or national origin.’

WASHINGTON – South Carolina’s governor has signed into law a bill to stop efforts to boycott, divest and sanction Israel on Thursday afternoon, in a first for the nation on a statewide level.

The bill makes no mention of Israel directly, but prevents public entities from contracting with businesses engaging in the “boycott of a person or an entity based in or doing business with a jurisdiction with whom South Carolina can enjoy open trade.” Continue Reading »

Obama Invokes Executive Waiver Delaying Relocation of US Embassy to Jerusalem

President Obama signed the waiver just as successive administrations dating back to Clinton’s, using executive authority to postpone implementation of the law by citing “national security interests.”

NY Co-Op Receives Written Warning Against Israeli Boycott Being Orchestrated By BDS

Israeli legal rights Shurat HaDin-Israel Law Center sent a letter this morning to the Park Slope Food Co-op (PSFC) President William Penner and General Manager Joseph Holtz warning them not to implement a boycott of Israeli manufacturers, products or services.

The PSFC, located in Brooklyn recently debated a resolution to discontinue the sale of Israeli products including those manufactured by the SodaStream Company.

Cyprus uncovers covert Iranian terror plot across Europe from arrested Hezbollah agent

Israeli security sources believe the home in Cyprus that held 2 tons of ammonium nitrate to make explosives, was meant for an Iranian-orchestrated, Europe-wide terror campaign against Israel.

 

Israeli security sources are closely monitoring the arrest and investigation of a Lebanese citizen in Larnaca, Cyprus, who is suspected of being a Hezbollah operative caught in possession of a massive quantity of explosive material.

Cyprus arrests Hezbollah terrorist suspected of planning terror attack on Israelis

Not the first time Cyprus picked by Hezbollah agents for planning to attack Israelis since the island hosts an Israeli embassy in Nicosia and it’s a popular holiday destination for Israelis.

Cypriot police suspect a man arrested on Wednesday was planning an attack on Israeli interests on the island after they found almost two tonnes of ammonium nitrate in his basement, newspapers reported on Friday.

The 26-year-old man is Lebanese-born and has a Canadian passport. He was detained by police after authorities discovered the stockpile.

Palestinians Drops Demand to Ban Israel from FIFA

Palestinian Football Association President Jibril Rajoub is submitting an amendment to the PFA’s proposal to ban Israel from FIFA, minutes ahead of the vote itself.

The vote was not expected to reach the required majority.

Rajoub said he wanted to find a “responsible solution” to the issue, as opposed to “scoring points.”

Insisting he thinks “it is right” to ban Israel, Rajoub added that “a lot of colleagues” had expressed “how painful it is for them to hear, in this (football) family, to hear the issue of suspension.”

The 16-year-old boy, who was wearing a Kippa (skullcap) at the time, was attacked while returning to his home to prepare for Shabbat dinner.

Canadian Multiculturalism Minister: Defending Israel Key to Tackling Anti-Semitism

Canada’s Minister Uppal admits his country defends Israel ‘not because it’s popular, but because it’s the right thing to do.’

Supporting Israel is part and parcel of the fight against anti-Semitism, and other countries should learn from Canada’s example in doing so, a Canadian minister has said.

Speaking to Arutz Sheva at the 5th Global Forum for Combating Anti-Semitism, Minister of State for Multiculturalism Tim Uppal said it was “only natural” that the Canadian government should send a senior delegation to the event.

He cited Canada’s role as a safe haven for Jews fleeing persecution in the past, including some 40,000 holocaust survivors “who came  to the country, established themselves and really helped helped build the country into what it is today.”

Pew Survey: Hindus & Jews are most highly-educated in US

The Pew survey revels a 6.7% increase in the amount of Americans who do not affiliate with any religion, but having Islam as the fastest-growing religion, with a 0.5% growth.

The Pew Research Center on Tuesday released its annual report on religion in the United States which showed that Hindus and Jews were the most highly-educated people in the country, as well as those with the highest incomes on average.

According to the 2014 US Religious Landscape Study, 59 percent of Jews in the US said they were college graduates, while 77% of Hindus also said they were holders of academic degrees. Continue Reading »

Canada’s New Hate Crime Laws Will Prosecute BDS Anti-Semitism

Canada, one of Israel’s staunchest allies, appears primed to use its new hate crime laws against groups advocating for the virulently anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

According to a Canadian Broadcasting Company report on Monday, Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s government made its intentions clear by sending a list of the country’s hate crime laws in response to CBC’s inquiry on its stance on BDS.

Four buses in Copenhagen were found on fire in a suspected anti-Israel arson attack Friday morning, the Copenhagen Post reported.
