Israel to receive about $55 million in taxes from the $1.1 billion Waze deal

 

Since most of Waze’s stockholders are foreign residents they are not obligated to pay taxes in Israel.

The government is expected to receive only about 200 million shekels ($55 million) in taxes from the reported $1.3 billion acquisition deal signed between Google and the Waze traffic and navigation app. While the final amount of the tax payment will depend on the ultimate structure of the deal, most of the Israeli startup company’s stockholders are foreign residents who are notobligated to pay taxes in Israel.

85% of Israelis oppose releasing prisoners to commence peace-talks

 

New poll shows Palestinian demand to release detainees from prison as a precondition to appear at  peace-talks, “unacceptable” to majority of Israeli Jews.

 

The Palestinian Authority’s demand that Israel release terrorists from prison as a precondition for peace talks is unacceptable to 85 percent of Israeli Jews, according to a Smith Research poll sponsored by the Knesset’s Land of Israel caucus.

Asked whether they would support releasing terrorists as a gesture to bring the Palestinians to the negotiating table, 57% said they would strongly oppose it, 28% said were against it, 13% said they supported it and just 2% said they were strongly in favor of such a move.

An airliner full of Israeli tourists was evacuated of passengers overnight Tuesday at a Bucharest airport moments before takeoff, as a fire broke out. The passengers’ cabin became filled with smoke, causing one man to sustain a smoke inhalation injury that necessitated his hospitalization. According to PM Netanyahu, Iran is seeking an escalation in the area by ordering Syria to provide Hezbollah with advanced weapons.

A mediation session was held Monday between the lawyer representing terrorist Salah Hamouri, who plotted the murder of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef and was released from Israeli jail in the Schalit deal, and the representatives of Arutz Sheva.

Hamouri sued Arutz Sheva, claiming that the website reported that he told the Reuters news agency, immediately after his release, that “Rabbi Yosef deserves to die.” This report, he claimed, “damaged his reputation.”

Falk bashed by the EU, US, & UN Watch, called to resign at UNHRC

 

At this UNHRC session, the EU denounced Falk’s report on Israel as inaccurate and biased.

The US called for Falk’s removal.

UN Watch reported that the British Foreign Office has accused Falk of racism.

Minister Bennett: More High Tech in Jerusalem and Less PA

In order to ensure Jerusalem stays strong and Israeli, the capital needs more high-tech industry and fewer PA institutions, Naftali Bennett said.

In order to strengthen Jerusalem, two things are necessary, Minister of Industry and Trade Naftali Bennett told Bayit Yehudi MKs at the party’s weekly meeting Monday. One is to encourage more high-tech businesses to open up shop in Jerusalem – and the other is to keep the Palestinian Authority, and its institutions, out of town.
