Airbnb charged in Civil Rights suit over anti-Semitic boycott in West Bank

Five US citizens charge Airbnb with violations of the US Civil Rights Act, the Fair Housing Act and the California Unfair Competition Law, by limiting boycott to only Jewish properties in the West Bank.
–  Plaintiffs blamed the BDS Movement as well as the biased NGO, Human Rights Watch for intimidating Airbnb.

Five US citizens filed a civil rights lawsuit in California this week against Airbnb, claiming its decision to delist rental properties in West Bank settlements was discriminatory to Jews and akin to Nazi boycotts.

Airbnb to be investigated by US Senate author of ‘Israel Anti-Boycott Act’

With over half of US states having passed anti-BDS legislation, an author of the ‘Israel Anti-Boycott Act’ in the Senate, Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio (Rep), wants to hear from Airbnb.

WASHINGTON – Airbnb’s move this week to delist properties located in Jewish settlements in the West Bank from its website prompted enough of an outcry in Israel to be heard in Washington, where key lawmakers are expressing concern and raising the prospect of legal action against the service giant.

Airbnb capitulates to BDS pressure, removes only Jewish homes from West Bank

Airbnb agreed to boycott West Bank settlements and announced plans Monday to remove settler listings from its popular website of temporary rentals in 191 countries.

“Another BDS [Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions] win!” multiple pro-Palestinian groups jubilantly claimed on social media.

Palestinians, leftists fuming that Airbnb list Jewish homes in Judea & Samaria

 

According to Al Jazeera, dozens of Israelis from West Bank towns are renting  rooms and vacation homes to tourists, provoking the ire of pro-Palestinians, who were unable to get a reaction from the California-based company.

Airbnb, the popular online accommodation, rent, and lodging service is under fire from Israeli peaceniks and Palestinian officials for listing residences in Jewish towns and settlements beyond the 1967 Green Line without noting the disputed political status of these areas.
