Sascha Baron Cohen, the mastermind behind Borat, Bruno and Ali G, made a rare appearance as himself when he accepted the Anti-Defamation League’s International Leadership Award on Thursday night.

Speaking at the organization’s Never is Now Summit, Cohen didn’t mince words when he slammed Facebook and its founder, Mark Zuckerberg.

Calling the internet the “greatest propaganda machine in history,” he blamed social media for spreading hatred and lies into millions of homes and for re-igniting anti-semitism. Continue Reading »

ADL condemns British MP for accusing Israel of fabricating Palestinian stabbing attacks

The Anti-Defamation League condemned on Thursday recent comments by British Labor MP Gerald Kaufman, who accused Jews of exerting undue influence over the Conservative Party and charged that Israel is fabricating terror attacks as an excuse to kill Palestinians.

Speaking at a pro-Palestinian event on Tuesday, Kaufman said, “It’s Jewish money, Jewish donations to the Conservative Party – as in the general election in May – support from The Jewish Chronicle, all of those things, bias the Conservatives.” Continue Reading »

The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, has expressed support for the creation of a European Union task force on anti-Semitism.

Mogherini, vice president of the European Commission and High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, announced her support in a statement published in Italian newspaper La Repubblica and indicated that she had sent a proposal to Frans Timmerman, the European Commissioner whose portfolio includes human rights and non-discrimination.
