Sascha Baron Cohen mocks Mark Zuckerberg in eloquent speech

Addressing the spread of misinformation, hate speech & antisemitism online during his acceptance speech at the ADL’s Leadership Award, the British comedian slammed Mark Zuckerberg for using double-talk & BS about Facebook’s part in the dissemination of hate.

Sascha Baron Cohen, the mastermind behind Borat, Bruno and Ali G, made a rare appearance as himself when he accepted the Anti-Defamation League’s International Leadership Award on Thursday night.

Speaking at the organization’s Never is Now Summit, Cohen didn’t mince words when he slammed Facebook and its founder, Mark Zuckerberg.

Calling the internet the “greatest propaganda machine in history,” he blamed social media for spreading hatred and lies into millions of homes and for re-igniting anti-semitism. Continue Reading »

ADL condemns British MP for accusing Israel of fabricating Palestinian stabbing attacks

 

British Labor MP Gerald Kaufman, who accused Jews of exerting undue influence over the Conservative Party has also charged Israel with fabricating terror attacks as an excuse to kill Palestinians.

The Anti-Defamation League condemned on Thursday recent comments by British Labor MP Gerald Kaufman, who accused Jews of exerting undue influence over the Conservative Party and charged that Israel is fabricating terror attacks as an excuse to kill Palestinians.

Speaking at a pro-Palestinian event on Tuesday, Kaufman said, “It’s Jewish money, Jewish donations to the Conservative Party – as in the general election in May – support from The Jewish Chronicle, all of those things, bias the Conservatives.” Continue Reading »

EU foreign policy chief praised for supporting EU task force on anti-Semitism

The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, has expressed support for the creation of a European Union task force on anti-Semitism.

Mogherini, vice president of the European Commission and High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, announced her support in a statement published in Italian newspaper La Repubblica and indicated that she had sent a proposal to Frans Timmerman, the European Commissioner whose portfolio includes human rights and non-discrimination. American Jewish groups bash Bennett’s two-state statements

Israel’s minister Naftali Bennett’s 2-state statement may have unwittingly opened the door to 3 American Jewish organizations that support the peace initiative so enthusiastically carried out by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.

WASHINGTON (JTA)— It’s almost boilerplate: The American Jewish community asks a foreign leader with whom it has cultivated a close relationship to kindly tell firebrands in the leader’s government to pipe down and fall in with an established policy that happens to be embraced by the U.S. government.

Greece? Romania? Hungary? Russia?

Try Israel.

In a rare rebuke of a sitting Israeli minister, three major centrist Jewish groups in recent weeks have criticized Naftali Bennett, the economics chief in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, for saying that the two-state solution is a “dead end.”
