WSJ: Various Arab Gulf states are prepared to improve ties with Israel

 

The Wall Street Journal reports that should Israel freeze settlement construction and relax trade restrictions with Gaza, steps toward normalizing ties would be made by a number of Sunni Gulf States.

Various Arab Gulf nations are reportedly prepared to improve ties with Israel if Jerusalem takes what they deem as significant efforts to relaunch the stagnate peace process with the Palestinians, The Wall Street Journal on Monday cited sources close to the matter as saying.

As part of the normalization process, the Gulf states would reportedly be willing to set up telecommunication lines between the countries, allow for Israeli businesses to trade with their Arab counterparts and allow for Israeli planes to fly over their airspace. Continue Reading »

Following Hezbollah’s lead, Hamas accuse Saudis of ‘undermining Palestinians’

 

In response to the delegation of Saudi businessmen & academics visiting Israel, Hamas calls on Kingdom to end ‘normalizing visits’ to Jewish State since it ‘undermines rights of Palestinians.’

Hamas on Sunday called on the Saudi government to prevent “normalization” visits to Israel after a visit to the Jewish state by former Saudi General Anwar Eshki and a delegation of Saudi businessmen and academics earlier this month.

In a statement posted to its website, Hamas requested that Saudi Arabia “take measures to prevent these normalizing visits that [Israel] uses to undermine the rights of Palestinians and penetrate into the [Muslim] nation in thought and culture,” the Times of Israel reported.

Saudi delegation member in Israel: Israelis “wants coexistence & wants peace”

 

Abd al-Mujid al-Hakim tells BBC Arabic, “In Arab societies, the picture of Israeli society is that it embraces a culture of death, wants to spill blood & does not believe in peace… The Israeli society that I encountered embraces a culture of peace… wants coexistence & wants peace.”
