An Arab youth was killed when a tunnel linking Egypt to Gaza collapsed on Saturday, Arab medical sources said.

Tunnel smuggler“Mussa Ghonaim, 26 years old, was killed in the tunnel collapse south of the town of Rafah,” the sources said, according to AFP.

In February, the Islamist terror movement Hamas, which governs Gaza, closed hundreds of tunnels used for smuggling in Rafah, which straddles the border between Egypt and the coastal enclave.

The Hamas terrorist movement, which rules Gaza, has arrested two hardline Islamists in connection with rocket attacks on Israel, sources close to a Salafist group told AFP on Thursday.

The Hamas interior ministry, however, denied that any arrests had been made for “resistance against the occupation.”

Gaza’s ruling Hamas terrorist group said on Monday that the group’s removal from the U.S. and European countries’ lists of terrorism organizations “has become a matter of time.”

Gaza childrenAhmed Youssef, one of Hamas’s leaders, told the Bethlehem-based Ma’an news agency, “There are contacts [being] made by the movement, with the help of Arab and Islamic countries such as Qatar, Egypt and Turkey, to convince major and European countries to take Hamas’s name out of the terrorism list.”

In addition, “security compounds, tunnels and electricity transformers” were hit, according to Al Jazeera. “Missiles also knocked out five electricity transformers, plunging more than 400,000 people into darkness, according to the Gaza electricity distribution company,” the news network reported. Terrorists from Hamas-controlled Gaza fired a barrage of four Grad missiles at the town of Netivot on Tuesday evening.

The Iron Dome system intercepted two of the missiles, and the other two exploded in open areas. There were no physical injuries and no reports of property damage.

Hamas leaders in Gaza announced Saturday that a young child had been killed in an Israeli airstrike. The child was identified as Ali Muataz al-Shawaf, 4.

Pictures of the child’s bloody body were published in Palestinian Authority media outlets.

However, IDF officials later revealed the story as a lie. There was no Israeli airstrike in the region in which the child was killed, they asserted.

IDF officials confirmed that a Gaza terrorist was killed in an airstrike elsewhere in Gaza.
