The Turkish newspaper Radikal on Feb. 20 reported that the partial apology may have been the subject of secret talks between Turkey and Israel.

The head of the Turkish organization that sponsored the 2010 flotilla to the Gaza Strip is being investigated for allegedly financing al-Qaida through his organization, the Turkish daily Haberturk reported on Friday.

Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) President Bulent Yildirim is being investigated by a specially authorized prosecutor in Istanbul over allegations of “providing financial aid to al-Qaida via his foundation” in absolute secrecy, without official numbering and identification, Haberturk reported.

Jerusalem man calls on US A-G to support flotilla lawsuit

American Alan Bauer cites rarely-used law allowing US to seize vessels that tried to break Gaza blockade.

A US citizen who filed a lawsuit asking the US authorities to seize the Mavi Marmara and 13 other Gaza flotilla ships has called on US Attorney-General Eric Holder to support the suit, The Jerusalem Post learned on Sunday.

Dr. Alan J. Bauer, an American citizen living in Jerusalem, filed the suit last June in the US federal court in New York with the help of Shurat HaDin (The Israel Law Center).

The precedent-setting lawsuit, which has since been transferred to the District of Columbia District Court, asks the US authorities to seize the flotilla vessels on the grounds that groups and individuals – including the Free Gaza and US to Gaza campaigns – violated US law by raising funds in the US to furnish and fit out the ships, whose intent was to commit hostilities against US ally Israel.

A Turkish lawyer said on Thursday that Israel had offered to pay $6 million to victims of Israel’s storming of a Gaza-bound Turkish flotilla to settle lawsuits against the Israeli military.

Turkey ready to indict flotilla soldiers

The Turkish Justice Ministry on Tuesday announced that the State Prosecutor’s Office has completed its probe into the IDF raid on the Turkish Marmara ship in May 2010, which resulted in the deaths of nine pro-Palestinian activists.

Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin said that his bureau had approached the Israeli Foreign Ministry in a request to receive a list of the names of Israeli soldiers who are supposed to stand trial. “When we receive the information, we will issue indictments to the relevant courts,” Ergin told Turkish news agency Anatolya.
