Syria’s armed forces confirms Israeli airstrike that targeted 3 sites near Qunaitra, warning Israel against endangering region stability.

Israeli air strikes on Wednesday against Syrian military sites near the Golan Heights killed one person and wounded seven others, Syria’s armed forces said, warning that the attacks endangered stability in the region.

An armed forces statement said the strikes targeted three sites near the town of Qunaitra.

It is periodically necessary for Israel to take “aggressive action” so that the quiet in the north will be maintained, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Wednesday just hours after the IAF hit targets in Syria in response to Tuesday’s attack on an IDF jeep on the Golan Heights. Huge Explosion Heard in Northern Golan Heights

Explosion felt near IDF vehicle on patrol on the Golan Heights near the Syrian border caused no injuries but did do minor damage. IDF investigating but waiting for first light to examine area.

A powerful explosion was heard on Friday evening in the Golan Heights, near an IDF vehicle that was on routine patrol along the Syrian-Israeli border, near the slopes of Mount Hermon.

No one was injured as a result of the explosion, but damage was caused to the rear window of the military vehicle.

The explosion was so powerful that it was heard for kilometers away, and many forces were called to the scene to investigate. Continue Reading »

Syria mortars pound Golan Heights again

 

Two shells fired from the Syrian side of the border land at the foot of Tel Fares. No reported injuries.

Two mortar shells fired from Syrian territory at around noon Monday landed in an open area in the Israeli-controlled part of the Golan Heights, near Tel Fares. There were no reports of injury, and it remains unclear if any damage was caused. IDF forces were sweeping the area.

IDF missile destroys Syrian cannon that fired shells on Israel

An IDF Tamuz missile destroyed Wednesday afternoon a Syrian cannon which had fired two shells into Israeli territory earlier in the day and lightly injured two soldiers.

During the incident in the northern Golan Heights, one soldier sustained light wounds from shrapnel, while another suffered from severe shock.

The IDF said the mortars were stray fallout from Syrian infighting near the border between President Bashar Assad‘s forces and rebels trying to overthrow him. Continue Reading »

2 IDF Soldiers Injured In Golan Heights From Syrian Mortar Fire

2 Israeli soldiers were wounded from a mortar shell that fell next to them, on the northern Golan Heights.

Two Israeli soldiers were slightly wounded by cross-border fire in the Golan Heights facing Syria.

A mortar shell exploded in the northern Golan Heights. It is not known whether the attack was spillover from the ongoing Syrian civil war or intentional.

According to preliminary reports, one of the soldiers was injured from shrapnel fragments and the other had suffered from shock as a result from the fall.

Both soldiers were initially treated for their moderate wounds at the scene by Magen David Adom medics, however, the pair will receive further treatment at a nearby hospital. Continue Reading »

New barrier, designed by the IDF to prevent the infiltration of terrorists from Syria into Israel has proven to also be missile proof.


 

A series of tests recently carried out by the IDF has confirmed that Israel’s new barrier on the border with Syria is missile proof.

The test was carried out by the Golan Brigade, under the command of Col. Arik Hen, to test the the five-meter border barrier’s ability to withstand a direct missile strike, as well as small arms fire.

It came as part of a wider initiative by the army to beef up its defenses along the border with Syria, in light of the ongoing civil war in Syria and the growth of radical jihadi organizations.

Syrians Fire on IDF Night-Patrol in Golan Heights, IDF Returns Fire

IDF on regular night patrol of border with Syria in the Golan comes under direct fire, returns fire at group of unidentified suspects on the Syrian frontier.

 

 

An army force on a routine patrol of the border with Syria on the Golan Heights came under fire and shot back at a group of unidentified suspects on the frontier.

There were no injuries among IDF soldiers in the incident.

IDF soldiers identified a group of suspects who had entered an unmanned military post along the Syrian-Israeli border.

The suspects did not cross the border fence, but were in Israeli territory when they attacked the IDF, an army spokeswoman said. Continue Reading »

UN: No Russians Allowed in Golan Heights Force

The UN reported that Russia is banned from participating in the Golan Heights peacekeeping force, UNDOF.

The United Nations said on Friday that Russia cannot send troops to the Golan Heights peacekeeping force, after President Vladimir Putin said he was ready to bolster the force, AFP reported.

Putin offered troops after Austria decided to withdraw its 377 soldiers from the UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) between Syria and Israel because of growing spillover from the Syria conflict.

The IDF has confirmed that shots were fired from Syria on one of its border patrols on Friday evening.

There were no injuries or damages in the incident, an army spokeswoman said.
