Syrian state news: Homs military airbase neutralizes missile attack

Syrian army official says the Dabaa military airfield near the Lebanese border was targeted by missiles prompting Syrian air defenses to ‘confront attack, preventing it from achieving its objective.’
– US denies involvement.
– IDF declines comment.

An explosion was heard Thursday evening in the Dabaa military airfield in the Syrian province of Homs, near the Syrian-Lebanese border, Syrian state news agency SANA reported. The source of the blast was initially unclear.

Syrian state media added the military airport had come under a missile attack, which was repelled by its air defense systems.

“One of our military airports in the central region was exposed to hostile missile aggression, and our air defense systems confronted the attack and prevented it from achieving its aim,” SANA said. Continue Reading »

Assad’s army destroying Palestinian camp to cleanse area of ISIS

UNRWA has expressed shock at the devastation of the once thriving Palestinian suburb of Damascus, with Yarmouk turned into a concrete jungle of destruction.
• Since “it’s [the] Assad regime [and not Israel] let’s keep the focus on ISIS,” an official at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies tweeted cynically.

For a week, the Syrian regime has bombarded the Palestinian refugee camp and neighborhood of Yarmouk in southern Damascus.

IDF retaliatory strike destroys Syrian mortar position that fired on Israel

After the IDF response to the Syrian mortar fired on Israel, an Army spokesperson said, “The IDF views the Syrian regime as responsible for everything in its territory and will not tolerate any attempt to harm the sovereignty of the State of Israel and the security of its residents.”

The IDF fired on a Syrian-regime position after a mortar shell landed near the security fence on the northern Golan Heights on Monday, the army announced.

The shell, which hit Israeli territory, is believed to be spillover from fighting across the border in Syria.

Israel strikes Syrian Army target after firing mortar shell at Israeli Golan Heights

 

When the Syrian conflict erupted in 2011, the Golan Heights became tense with a growing number of rockets & mortar rounds, mostly stray, hitting the Israeli side, prompting the IDF to respond.

Dozens of Hezbollah killed/injured by Syrian forces over military strategy

 

Syrian media reports of heavy fighting early Thursday morning involving Hezbollah fighters against Syrian President Bashar Assad’s forces in two villages of Aleppo’s southern suburbs.

The first signs of a rift between Hezbollah and the Syrian regime, which have been cooperating over the past five years in the Syrian civil war, reportedly began emerging amid heavy fighting against rebel factions in Aleppo.

IDF retaliates with airstrikes on Syrian army targets following morning rocket attack

 

Israel Air Force responded to earlier rocket attack with successful night-time air strikes on Assad’s military.

 

The Israel Air Force (IAF) struck Syrian army artillery targets late on Tuesday night in response to an earlier rocket attack carried out on the Golan Heights and Mount Hermon.

Syrian army begins taking control of its side of Golan Heights

 

Israelis in Golan Heights on Friday could hear the Syrian army as they launched offensive in southern Syria near it border with Israel.

 

 

Opposition activists reported air raids in the southern province of Deraa, Syria, that killed at least two people, the Lebanese newspaper The Daily Star reported on Saturday.

The Syrian army had launched an aerial offensive in southern Syria near the border with Israel’s Golan Heights on Friday.
