A salvo of twenty-seven mortar shells were fired on Tuesday morning at Israeli towns surrounding the Gaza Strip, with at least two exploding inside the communities, one in a kindergarten yard.

No one was injured in the continuous barrage which began at 6:59am, triggering 24 consecutive Code Red alert sirens to blare throughout the region, and local residents were told shortly after they could leave their bomb shelters and return to normality. Continue Reading »

IDF retaliatory strike destroys Syrian mortar position that fired on Israel

After the IDF response to the Syrian mortar fired on Israel, an Army spokesperson said, “The IDF views the Syrian regime as responsible for everything in its territory and will not tolerate any attempt to harm the sovereignty of the State of Israel and the security of its residents.”

The IDF fired on a Syrian-regime position after a mortar shell landed near the security fence on the northern Golan Heights on Monday, the army announced.

The shell, which hit Israeli territory, is believed to be spillover from fighting across the border in Syria.

IAF jets destroy Hamas ‘terror targets’ in Gaza after multiple mortar fire at Israel

In response to multiple mortar fire on southern Israel, the IDF responded strongly in Gaza; despite no damage or injuries from the attacks yesterday were reported, an IDF spokesperson said, “The IDF will continue to use all means to thwart attempts to attack the citizens of Israel. The IDF will not allow any breach of Israeli sovereignty.”

Israeli fighter jets bombed “terror targets” in the Gaza Strip in retaliation for rocket fire at southern Israel, a military spokesperson said early on Thursday.

“In response to the projectiles fired at southern Israeli communities throughout yesterday from the Gaza Strip, IAF (Israeli air force) fighter jets targeted a significant terror infrastructure in the Gaza Strip,” Israeli forces said in a statement.

IDF responds after Syrian mortar explodes in Israel

 

No reported causalities or damage after Syrian war spillover, when a mortar explodes near the border fence on the Israeli side of the Golan Heights Wednesday night.

Earlier in the evening, a mortar shell fired from a tank in Syria exploded in open territory in the Golan Heights along Israel’s northern border. The IDF attacked a Syrian army post in retaliation.

IAF jets launch reprisal attacks overnight, taking out 3 Hamas terror targets after a mortar shell fired from Gaza explodes in southern Israel Wednesday evening.

The IDF launched a fresh wave of airstrikes overnight Wednesday against three Hamas terror targets in the Gaza Strip. The move comes as a retaliation for the firing of artillery shells on the Eshkol Regional Council late Wednesday.

The IDF spokesperson’s Unit said that it held Hamas exclusively responsible for all activities in the strip and would continue to operate in a determined manner in order to maintain peace and quiet for Israel’s southern residents

The mortar shells exploded near the border fence shortly before midnight Wednesday but no red alert siren was sounded.

Israeli jets hit Hamas targets Saturday after Gaza rocket fired at Israeli civilians

 

Although, this was the first rocket fired over the past week that targeted Israeli civilians, some 16 mortar shells in at least 12 different attack, were fired this week at IDF troops in attempts to deter their searching for terror-tunnels on Israel’s side of the Gaza border.

New IDF Radar For Mortars Add 7-8 Seconds Warning for Civilians to Seek Cover

 

Newly improved radar alert system for mortars to be operational by the middle of October, IDF reports.

A new radar system to detect mortars was successfully tested recently, and will improve the alert warning time for incoming projectiles by 7-8 seconds, the IDF announced on Sunday.

IDF Southern Command and security firms have already stationed the systems, which will probably start operating by the middle of next month.

Sirens Automatically Activated When Syria Fired 2 Mortars Into Northern Israel

Two mortars fell in northern Israel early Tuesday afternoon, shortly after air raid sirens blared throughout the area of Kibbutz Ein Zivan in the northern Golan Heights, warning of fire from Syria. Local residents reported hearing blasts in the area shortly after.

The mortars landed in an open area near orchards and a UN base.  The IDF has confirmed that the two mortars were errant fire from battles raging in Syria, near the border with Israel, and not an intentional attack.

Hamas Arrests Gaza Terrorists Responsible for Mortar Fire on Israel

 

Israeli defense officials report that Hamas has arrested the renegade terrorists responsible for a non-sanctioned mortar attack on Israel’s southern region.

Senior defense officials said on Tuesday night that Hamas has arrested the terrorists who were responsible for the mortar fire on the Eshkol region earlier in the evening.

According to the officials, Hamas had passed a message to Israel after the shooting that it would arrest and punish those responsible for the shooting, and did just that.

One official quoted by Channel 2 News said that Hamas was quick to react and arrest the terrorists, fearing that the fighting in Gaza would resume. Continue Reading »

At least one person is dead and several are injured in an explosion on the Israeli side of the Golan Heights Sunday, after an explosive device was detonated near a passing vehicle.

Palestinians shot three mortar shells Thursday morning on an area where an IDF force was engaging in routine activity on the Israeli side of the security barrier in the southern Gaza Strip. There were no casualties and no damage was caused.
