OECD pleased with Israel’s declining unemployment rate

 

In recent data published by Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the unemployment rate in Israel dropped by 2% points to 6.7% 

Employment rate reached 67.1% in 3rd quarter of 2012 

Israel enjoys higher rates than the average employment rate among OECD member countries.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development gave Israel positive feedback for its declining unemployment rate in new data recently published by the organization.

According to the data, the unemployment rate in Israel dropped by two percentage points down to 6.7%, and the employment rate reached 67.1% in the third quarter of 2012.

A Jewish-Arab American woman is suing a U.S. airline and the federal Transportation Security Administration for removing her from an airplane and strip-searching her.

Israel apparently will have its first American-born Knesset member since the late, firebrand Rabbi Meir Kahane nearly 30 years later in Maryland- native Dov Lipman of Yesh Atid.

Nearly a quarter of a million voters chose parties that did not make it into the Knesset this time around.

ElectionsThe ‘Otzma L’Yisrael’ party (Strong Israel) came closest to reaching its goal, but failed to pass the 2 percent threshold needed to enter the parliament. The party, led by MK Michael Ben Ari, earned 61,825 votes, and lacked the 15,000 more needed to break the barrier.

NYPD Recover Stolen Brooklyn Torah Valued at $30,000

A Brooklyn Torah that was reported to be in the trunk of a stolen car, and is estimated to be worth around $30,000 was found, according to NYPD officials.

A Torah that was reported to be stolen and estimated to be worth around $30,000 was found, according to officials.

The Brooklyn Torah, belonging to Rabbi Binyamin Tamaiev of Congregation Agudath Sholom of Flatbush, was reportedly found inside the rabbi’s stolen car.

His gray 2007 Toyota Corolla was stolen from the 3700 block of 18th Avenue on Saturday evening with the rabbi’s personal belongings as well as the $30,000 Torah, police said. Continue Reading »

Exit polls marking the conclusion of the 2013 national elections are predicting re-election for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but the big surprise was Yair Lapid’s Yesh Atid party, which, according to the polls, won 18-19 mandates.

Israel’s news networks projected the joint Likud-Yisrael Beteinu to have won 31 Knesset seats – a sharp drop from the 42 mandates that two parties currently hold.

A pro-Syrian Palestinian terrorist group claimed Tuesday that one of its leaders in the West Bank escaped an assassination attempt on Monday night.

PFLPIt said that unidentified gunmen opened fire at the car of Mohamed Jibril, a senior member of the group, in Nablus.It said that Jibril was not hurt in the attack.

The group, whose members have been fighting alongside Syrian President Bashar Assad’s forces against the rebels over the past two years, called on the Palestinian Authority to capture the perpetrators and bring them to trial.
