Sinai Terrorists say their group was target of Israeli drone strike

Sinai Al-Qaida-linked terrorist group Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis, says 4 of its members were killed while preparing to fire rocket into Israel (cities).

Egyptian army reports no drone attack ever occurred.

 

 

An Al-Qaida-linked group active in the Sinai Peninsula said Saturday that its fighters were the target of a reported Israeli drone strike into Egyptian territory, a rare operation that could indicate increased Egyptian-Israeli security cooperation against militants in the lawless border zone.

Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis, in a statement posted on a militant website, said that a Israel Defense Forces drone that crossed into Egyptian airspace killed four fighters as they were preparing a cross-border rocket strike into Israel. Continue Reading »

U.S. Keeps Embassies Closed

 

U.S. Embassies in the Middle East will remain closed due to ‘caution’ & not because of ‘new threat.

The United States extended the closures of some embassies and consulates in the Middle East – which had been closed Sunday due to an Al-Qaida threat – through Aug. 10 due to “caution” but not the emergence of a “new threat stream,” the State Department said.

WATCH: U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv closed over terror threat

US State Department instructs 14 Middle East missions/embassies to remain closed on Sunday based on security intel concerns.

U.S. embassies that would normally be open this Sunday – including those in Tel Aviv, Cairo and Amman – will be closed that day because of unspecified security concerns, the U.S. State Department said on Thursday.

CBS News reported that the embassy closings were tied to U.S. intelligence about an Al-Qaida plot against U.S. diplomatic posts in the Middle East and other Muslim countries. CBS said the intelligence did not mention a specific location. Continue Reading »

He focused in particular on Jordan. According to interviews he conducted, last month Jordanian security forces arrested 11 men and thus foiled a massive planned terrorist attack in the heart of Amman.

Al-Qaida leader urges Muslims to wage Jihad against U.S. & Israel

Ayman al-Zawahri praises demonstrators who stormed U.S. consulate in Benghazi & U.S. embassy in Cairo

Al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahiri said a film made in the United States mocking the Prophet Mohammed showed Washington was waging a “crusader Zionist war” against Muslims and he called for more protests outside American embassies.

Like in other messages released by al-Qaida’s Yemeni and North African branches last month, Zawahiri praised last month’s assault on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that killed four diplomats but stopped short of claiming responsibility.

In the recording, posted on Islamist websites on Friday, he called on “free and distinguished zealots for Islam” who attacked the consulate and protested outside other American embassies to “continue their opposition to American crusader Zionist aggression against Islam and Muslims”. Syria’s chemical weapons & al-Qaida

The al-Qaida network appeared to be prepared to use chemical weapons in the terrorist attacks it was planning in order to cause far greater numbers of casualties in comparison with a conventional terrorist attack.

During a nighttime raid in Amman on April 20, 2004, Jordanian security forces foiled a plot by al-Qaida to attack the headquarters of Jordanian intelligence, the Jordanian prime minister’s office and the U.S. Embassy with chemical weapons. Tons of chemical agents were seized that apparently had come from Syria. Jordanian officials estimated that the chemical attack could have killed 20,000 people.

In a Sunday Times report, a Norwegian that was trained in Yemen plans to crash a plane on a suicide mission; British authorities say there is a shortage of trained personnel to carry out security screenings.

 

The al-Qaida branch in the Arabian Peninsula is believed to be planning a terror attack during the Olympic Games in London, scheduled to begin at the end of the month. According to a report in today’s Sunday Times, quoting intelligence services, the organization has recruited a Norwegian Muslim convert who was supposed to hijack a U.S. passenger plane and crash it on a suicide mission.

Al-Qaida group claims responsibility for border attack

Saudi, Egyptian citizen purportedly launched the attack that killed an Israeli worker, video shows; over 30 rockets fired from Gaza in past day, at least six Palestinians killed in IDF strikes on the Strip.

 

 

An al-Qaida-linked group calling itself “The Shura Council of Mujahideen in the Holy Land” claimed responsibility Tuesday for a cross-border-attack along Israel’s southern border that killed one construction worker on Monday.

Reuters obtained a video showing a group of masked men who claimed responsibility for the attack. The masked men used Islamic slogans, pledging to liberate the Holy Land from what they termed Jewish control.

A Somali Islamist militant group is offering rewards of chickens and camels for information on the whereabouts of U.S. President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, mocking the millions of dollars the United States has offered for leaders of the al-Qaida affiliate.
