NY Jewish Museum Cancels BDS Speaker

Decision to invite BDS activist Judith Butler, a noted academic & extremely anti-Israel activist, sparked heated debate and anger among Jewish community.

Anti-Israel activist Judith Butler’s scheduled speaking event at the New York Jewish Museum has been cancelled, according to the Forward.

Butler, a literary professor and sociolinguistics expert, is a high-profile supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel. While the scheduled event was due to be about Franz Kafka – not the Jewish state – the museum faced a strong backlash over the choice of speaker, initiated by public relations executive Ronn Torossian’s op-ed on Arutz Sheva and continued by mainstream Jewish groups. Church Leaders Reject BDS Boycott After Tour in Soda Stream Factory

American delegates from the Presbyterian Church, which formally endorsed boycotting Israel, change their minds after viewing up close the West Bank Soda Stream factory.

A delegation of 14 leaders from the Presbyterian clergy, a church that in the past supported boycotting Israeli products manufactured in Judea and Samaria (Shomron), arrived last week to visit Israel.

The visit was organized by the America-Israel Friendship League (AIFL); the delegates’ goal was to discover Israel personally and to better understand the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Representatives from the Presbyterian Church, which has an estimated six million followers, visited the Soda Stream factory which is located in Maaleh Adumim, east of Jerusalem. Continue Reading »

Israel boycott fears facilitated 2 foreign bidders to withdraw ports tender

The deterioration of Israel’s international standing has been evident this week as at least two leading international companies bidding to build private seaports here dropped out of the government’s tender due to concerns over the political repercussions.

Royal Boskalis Westminster, a Dutch operator of ports that had submitted a proposal under the name Holland Terminal in the prequalification stage last December, dropped out shortly thereafter. More recently, Italy’s Condote de Agua withdrew after passing the prequalification process.

French courts punish anti-Israel BDS activists in hate crime

 

About 20 anti-Israel BDS activists have been convicted under the Lellouche law, which has France spearheading the efforts to neutralize the movement through legal means.

When Farida Trichine and 11 of her friends burst into a French supermarket in 2009 and began applying stickers with anti-Israel slogans to vegetables imported from the Jewish state, she expected to be escorted from the store by police.

BDS Facebook page hassling Rolling Stones on boycott is phony

The Facebook page calling on the Rolling Stones to boycott their scheduled performance in Israel has been revealed as a spoof.

 

WASHINGTON — A Facebook page claiming victory in getting the Rolling Stones to boycott Israel is an apparent hoax.

BDS Rolling Stones Facebook page The “Rolling Stones: Boycott Israel” page, established Wednesday, on Thursday reported that the group had cancelled a planned June 10 concert.

It cited “sources with the Rolling Stones,” but there has been no such announcement.

The page also posted a letter asking the group to boycott Israel and  signed by the page organizers as well as supposedly by Electronic Intifada and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. Continue Reading »

A new video promo-trailer has been released to aid the BDS in their Israel-bashing events for ‘Israel Apartheid Week 2014’.

Anti-Israel advocates are ramping up their rhetoric this week in a new promotional “trailer” for the events of “Israeli Apartheid Week 2014.” The annual week-long event, starting in the last week of February, will see opponents of Israel protesting in dozens of nations around the world.

Israel Law Center challenges BDS in Australian court

Lawsuit is the 1st time that Australia’s anti-racism laws have been utilized against those seeking to harm Israeli academics or businesses because of their national origin.

 

A landmark case that could determine whether the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel breaches Australia’s antiracism laws returns to court this week, The Australian reported on Monday.

Secret Cabinet Session Held on BDS Without Leftist Ministers

Tzipi Livni & Yair Lapid, who defended John Kerry’s boycott threats, weren’t invited to a cabinet session on the boycott against Israel.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu convened a secret discussion regarding the BDS threat to Israel, and did not invite the ministers of Yesh Atid and Hatnua to the session, reported Maariv‘s Eli Berdenstein Monday.

BDS – or Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions – is the name of the movement to boycott Israel.

The discussion was originally scheduled for 10 days ago, but was rescheduled for Sunday. Unlike the originally planned meeting, reports Maariv, many ministers were not invited to Sunday’s discussion – including Yesh Atid’s Yair Lapid, Yaakov Perry and Shai Piron, as well as Justice Minister Tzipi Livni. UK Daily puts Israeli App on ‘Top 5’ apps list for Sochi Winter Olympics

Israeli service, One Hour Translation app, makes headlines for offering free on-demand translations from the Winter Olympics.

Another Israeli product beat the ongoing Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions campaign against Israel Sunday. A real-time translation app made it to the Telegraph UK‘s top five apps for following the 2014 Sochi Winter Games.

Palestinian Authority Report: Palestinians Prefer Purchasing ‘Made in Israel’

BDS steaming after a Palestinian Authority report showed 70% of the Authority’s imports were from Israel, with total imports worth $3.5 billion entering the West Bank from Israel.

Last month, BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) activists slammed Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas for not joining in with them to boycott Israel – and on Monday, the PA revealed just how uninvolved it was in the BDS movement. According to a PA report, 70% of the PA’s imports were from Israel, with imports worth $3.5 billion entering the Authority from Israel.

It should be noted that Israel generally does not restrict imports of consumer goods to the PA, and that Israeli goods compete on Palestinian store shelves with goods from Arab countries and Europe as well as from the PA. Continue Reading »
