Hamas is prepared to stop tunnel smuggling activity between Sinai and the Gaza Strip if the Egyptians order the reopening of the Rafah border crossing, which has been closed since the Sinai terror attack last week, Hamas senior official Salah al-Bardawil said on Sunday.

Egypt completely closed the border crossing to the passage of people and goods after terrorists, some of whom were suspected of coming from the Gaza Strip, attacked an army outpost in Sinai on August 5, killing 16 Egyptian soldiers.

Rights groups accuse the IDF of catching African migrants inside Egyptian territory

Israeli human-rights orgs reported that IDF soldiers have been intercepting migrants in Egypt, then turning them over to Egyptian forces.

Israel has been sending soldiers into Egypt’s Sinai desert to stop African migrants before they reach the border, handing them over to Egyptian forces, human rights groups charged in a report released Friday.

The report, published by Amnesty International and several Israeli groups, including Hotline for Migrant Workers and the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, said that Israeli soldiers have entered several hundred meters into Egyptian territory to catch migrants and hand them over to Egyptian police. Massive blackouts plague Egypt

Blackouts, water cuts, & fuel shortages have enraged Egyptians, sending many to the streets to protest.

 

 

A massive blackout hit many parts of the Egyptian capital on Thursday, briefly halting traffic on much of its crowded subway and delaying the start of trading on the stock exchange.

Egypt has been beset by frequent power outages across the country since the hot summer months began. The blackouts, together with water cuts, have enraged Egyptians, sending many to the streets to protest.

Egypt in Political Uproar Over a 5 Minutes Interview With an Israeli

An interview with an Israeli reporter on common problems has led for calls of ministerial resignation in Egypt

Egypt was in an uproar Thursday, with Egyptians and officials demanding that the country’s communications minister resign his post, after an Israeli reporter was interviewed on Egypt’s Nile TV. The reporter, from Israel Radio’s Arabic service, was discussing the problem of Sinai terrorism, a problem common to Israel and Egypt.

According to reports in the Egyptian media Thursday, the Israeli reporter, Ayal Alima, spoke to the host of a news magazine program on Nile TV, and called on both the IDF and Egyptian army to derive lessons from the attack in Sinai earlier with week, in which 17 Egyptian soldiers were killed. IDF Releases Video: Terrorists Terminated

Israeli generals reveal that Ground Forces & Air Force engaged Sinai-Gaza terrorists in several clashes before wiping them out in 15 minutes.

IDF generals revealed Monday that soldiers and planes engaged Sunday night’s terrorists in several clashes before wiping them out in 15 minutes. On Monday, the IDF released a video recording of the elimination of the APC carrying the terrorists.

It’s Morsi’s choice

It should be apparent to the new Islamist gov’t in Cairo that Israel & Egypt have a mutual interest in maintaining a peaceful border

The deadly attack on Monday near the Kerem Shalom Egypt-Israel border crossing, in which 16 Egyptian policemen were killed, should make it clear to Egypt that Israel isn’t the problem — it is the solution.

It should be apparent to the new Islamist government in Cairo that Israel and Egypt have a mutual interest in maintaining a peaceful border and protecting it from Islamist terrorist organizations that don’t hesitate to kill their Muslim brethren as they sit down to break the Ramadan fast.

Anti-Semitism In Egypt Is Back in Fashion

The Egyptian revolution that overthrew  Mubarak, held great promise &  exposed the challenges facing Egyptian politics & culture. Anti-Semitism, if nothing else, has always been a sign of a deeply damaged culture.

 

 

A travel tip for the international executive class: If you find yourself doing business in Egypt and you feel the urge to insult your interlocutor, 1) try not to insult your interlocutor; and 2) if you must, cast aspersions on the chastity of the person’s mother or sister. This insult will be taken hard, but it may eventually be forgiven.

Barak: Terrorist Attack on Israel-Sinai border is ‘wake-up call’ for Egypt’s gov’t

Sunday’s terrorist attack was the largest assault from the Sinai by global jihad operatives against both Egyptian & Israeli targets.

 

 

Defense Minister Ehud Barak has said that Sunday’s attack by insurgents in Sinai would serve as a “wake-up call for the Egyptians to take matters into their own hands.”

Egyptian spokesman says Morsi’s letter to Peres is a fake

Earlier, Egyptian officials played down a letter apparently sent by President Mohammed Morsi to the Israeli President but now, Morsi’s spokesman denies it.

Peres advisers say Egyptians denied the letter because it may have been perceived as sign of weakness. Dispute shows disarray in the new fractured Egyptian government.

The alleged letter of good will, sent by Morsi to President Shimon Peres.

 

Hours after the President’s Office announced on Tuesday that President Shimon Peres received a letter of goodwill from his Egyptian counterpart Mohammed Morsi, a spokesman for Morsi sharply rejected the announcement.

Egyptian show exposes extreme levels of hate against Jews & Israelis • All 3 ‘victims’ of the Candid Camera show were enraged at the prospect of merely being in the same room with presumed Jews.

If the result of a prank on an Egyptian candid camera show is any indication, Israelis shouldn’t expect normal relations with Egyptians any time soon. During a recently aired episode, three Egyptian actors were pranked by being led to believe they were appearing on an Israeli television program.

Apparently, in Egypt it’s not a problem for a man to punch a woman in the face as long as she’s Jewish.

Hamas Considering to Declare Gaza a Sovereign Country

Banking on Egyptian support, Hamas may declare Gaza an independent country, a Brittish Arab language newspaper reports.

Hamas is banking on Egyptian support to declare Gaza an independent state and “a liberated part of the ’67 territories,” the London-based Al Hayat Arab language paper reported Sunday.

Hamas has been tossing around the idea for two years, but Egypt has rejected the move.

Another Blast rocks Egypt’s gas pipeline to Israel and Jordan

An explosion on Sunday rocked the Egyptian pipeline built to carry natural gas to Israel and Jordan, the 15th time it has been attacked since the start of the uprising in early 2011 that toppled President Hosni Mubarak.

A tomato struck an Egyptian official in the face, and shoes and a water bottle landed near the armored cars carrying Clinton’s delegation in the port city of Alexandria after she gave a speech on democratic rights.

Hamas leader says Egypt will protect Gaza from Israeli attack

Hamas PM Ismail Haniyeh says that the new Egyptian president, Mohamed Morsi, will fully open Egypt’s borders with Gaza.

The head of the Islamist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip said on Friday he was confident Egypt’s new president would shield the Palestinian enclave from Israeli attack and fully open its borders to end a trade blockade.

Mohamed Morsi, who won power in last month’s presidential election in Egypt, is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and ideologically close to Hamas.

The Gazan Islamists long complained that his predecessor Hosni Mubarak, ousted from power last year in a popular revolt, sided not just with Israel, but also with their political rival – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement. Continue Reading »
