What will Israel do about the new EU guidelines?

Because of Israel’s scientific prowess, it is the only non-European country to have been invited to take part in EU’s ‘Horizon 2020’ program. The Europeans knew what they were doing by inviting Israel, which is no longer viewed as a country known only for its Jaffa oranges, as it was in the 1950s.

Last Friday morning, on Israel’s popular morning radio station, Reshet Bet, broadcaster Aryeh Golan interviewed Deputy Foreign Minister Zeev Elkin about the latest demands by the European Union that its research and development grants not be applied to territories beyond the 1967 lines.

New pro-Israel Arab party declares EU boycott to be counterproductive

“Releasing murderers is not going to bring peace,” exclaimed Bishara Shlayan, an Israeli Christian Arab from Nazareth. He said he is against the release, and that only after a final peace deal should prisoners be released.

Bishara Shlayan, an Israeli Christian Arab from Nazareth who is creating a new Arab political party, said that the EU boycott of Israeli businesses and institutions operating in the West Bank is counterproductive, since it mainly harms Arabs living there.

“The boycott is a big mistake – it is the livelihood for many, mainly Arabs in the West Bank,” Shlayan told The Jerusalem Post, adding that the absence of Israeli businesses will create more violence, as more Arabs will be left with no way to put food on their tables.

Europe’s ‘holier than thou’ attitude to Israel maintains momentum

In direct opposition to UN 242, the EU has unilaterally dictated the outcome of the Israeli-Arab peace talks, and is biasly working to ensure its anti-Jewish agenda is carried out.

By Tsvi Sadan

The European Union’s new guidelines concerning withdrawal of financial support from Israeli “entities” working in the “occupied territories” didn’t surprise Israelis. For a long time now the EU’s biased stand toward Israel has caused Israeli governments to keep the EU at arm’s length, especially when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

Careful reading of the EU’s latest declaration shows that Europe sees negotiation between the parties as superfluous since the outcome has already been decided: Israel will withdraw fully from all territories captured in 1967. Continue Reading »

Hassan Nasrallah Blames Israel for EU’s blacklisting Hezbollah

The balk of the criticism landed on Britain, which according to the channel led the blacklisting campaign: “For years, leaders of the enemy state tried to lead Europe to this decision with the obvious backing of Britain and the US.” Continue Reading »

Again lies, racist policies & propaganda by the EU towards Israel

Israel does not make to the world the one case that matters – why Israelis are fully entitled under int’l law to build their homes in these territories; and exactly how Britain, the EU & the UN have grossly mis-stated & misapplied  int’l law.

By Melanie Phillips

Consternation in Israel over the EU’s malicious decision to boycott individuals or institutions situated over the ‘Green Line’ between Israel and the disputed territories. This would presumably include boycotting, for example, the Hebrew University which is just over that line or, even more grotesquely, Jewish residents in Jerusalem’s Old City – where ancient Jewish settlement far predated the arrival of a single Arab, dating as it does since King David who built it as the capital of the kingdom of the Jewish people.

Palestinians oppose new EU sanctions for fear of loosing jobs

If EU boycott guidelines for ‘Jewish settler’ businesses ever become implemented by any of it’s member-states, it will probably boomerang leaving thousands of Palestinians jobless.

By  Israel Today Staff

Now even the Palestinians are fighting back against the decision by the European Union to boycott any Israeli businesses with a presence in the so-called “occupied territories.”

Groups have boycotted SodaStream because some of its machines are built in contested territory. Meanwhile, the company employs hundreds of Palestinians.

A senior PalestinianAuthority official who spoke on condition of anonymity told Israeli media that the European decision was not all that popular in Ramallah, despite ostensibly being made in service to the Palestinian nationalist cause. Continue Reading »
