IDF PICTURES: Gaza Rocket Destroys House in Netivot

Last night, a house was destroyed in Netivot (a city of 26,500 residents) after a rocket hit its living room. The following pictures show the extent of damage to the house.

 

Since the beginning of 2012, more than 455 rockets have hit Israel. Over the past 9 days of September more than 10 rockets hit southern Israel, triggering alarms in the nearby communities.

A Qassam rocket exploded in an open area outside Sderot Monday. No injuries or damage were reported.

The Color Red alert sounded in the area ahead of the explosion.

The fire came as the city’s schoolchildren were entering their classrooms, ahead of the first day of the new school year.

Sunday also saw Gaza fire on Israel’s southern communities as three rockets were fired at the western Negev.

Rocket Attacks Resumes as a Kassam Hits Sderot Building

Gaza terrorists fired three Kassam rockets on the Western Negev Sunday, one of them damaging a building in the industrial area near Sderot, located less than one mile “as the rocket flies” from northern Gaza.

One person was lightly wounded and a second was treated for shock.

Terrorists from Hamas-controlled Gaza have continually attacked the Western Negev since the government expelled Jews from Gush Katif and withdrew all IDF personnel in the summer of 2005. Gazan Terrorists Testing new Rockets by firing into Sinai, Israeli Sources Say

Israelis say there is evidence that Egypt’s northern Sinai region has become a testing range for Gaza’s rocket builders.

Israeli sources told Reuters on Friday there is evidence that Egypt’s north Sinai region is becoming not only a rallying point for terrorists but a firing range for Gaza’s rocket builders.

It was soon after the 2011 revolt in Egypt toppled President Hosni Mubarak that Israeli rocket radars began to spot unusual launches from the Gaza, the report noted.

While the rockets normally towards Israeli border towns, or north towards coastal cities, some are now aimed at the empty desert wastes of Sinai. Continue Reading »

An IDF inquiry suggests that the tank shield detected a missile launch during operational activity near the border fence. No injuries were reported.

The IDF considers the firing of the missile a very unusual event. Windbreaker has rarely been called into action since becoming operational two years ago. In March 2011, it successfully intercepted an RPG rocket fired at a tank. Continue Reading »

Gaza-based terrorists fire 2 Qassams at western Negev; no injuries reported

Two rockets fired from the Gaza Strip exploded in an open area near Sderot on Saturday evening. No injuries or damage were reported.

A 29-year-old woman was lightly injured when running to a protected space. She was taken to the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon shortly after.

Meanwhile, two Qassam rockets were fired from Gaza on Friday towards agricultural fields in the Negev’s Eshkol Regional Council. No injuries or damage were reported.

Report of Slain Gaza Child A Fake, IDF Says

Gaza’s Hamas leaders claim a young child was killed in an Israeli airstrike. Israel: There was no airstrike.

Hamas leaders in Gaza announced Saturday that a young child had been killed in an Israeli airstrike. The child was identified as Ali Muataz al-Shawaf, 4.

Pictures of the child’s bloody body were published in Palestinian Authority media outlets.

However, IDF officials later revealed the story as a lie. There was no Israeli airstrike in the region in which the child was killed, they asserted.

IDF officials confirmed that a Gaza terrorist was killed in an airstrike elsewhere in Gaza.

Israel Air Force aircraft struck a terror cell preparing to launch rockets into Israel from theGaza Strip on Friday, according to the IDF Spokesman’s Office.

The strike came after two rockets were fired into Southern Israel from Gaza earlier in the day landing in the Eshkol Regional Council area. More than 130 rockets have been fired into the South from Gaza since Monday, but Thursday and Friday were relatively quiet after an Egyptian-brokered informal ceasfire seemed to be largely holding. The rocket fire from Gaza continued early morning Wednesday with a Grad rocket landing near Be’er Sheva and more than ten rockets landing in the Eshkol Regional Council. Two of the rockets landed inside towns but caused no casualties, though light damage was caused to an industrial structure.

Air Force jets attacked targets in the Gaza Strip in response to the recent firing of rockets at Israel. Palestinian sources noted that Hamas was evacuating all of its military and security facilities fearing additional strikes.

Qassam hits western Negev; none injured

Rocket fired from Gaza causes small brush fire but no injuries; IAF strikes targets in Strip

 

A Qassam rocket fired from northern Gaza exploded on the outskirts of Sderot at noon on Monday. No injuries were reported.A small brush fire erupted at the landing site, but was quickly extinguished by local firefighters.

The IAF struck a terror tunnel and a weapons mill in northern Gaza Strip overnight.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that the pilots reported destroying their marks, adding that the strike came in response to Sunday’s rocket fire at the western Negev.
