Arab Terrorist Shot Dead by IDF While Breaching Security Fence

19 yr-old reported by IDF as being killed by gunfire while sabotaging security fence with 2 others near Hevron in Judea.

IDF soldiers reportedly shot and killed a local Arab resident near Hevron on Wednesday, as he attempted to breach Israel’s security fence with two accomplices.

“Earlier today three suspects sabotaged the security fence in Deir al-Asal al-Tahta, southwest of Hevron,” an IDF spokeswoman told AFP. After the three ignored soldiers’ warnings to leave, as well as warning shots in the air, soldiers “fired towards the lower extremities of the main instigator.”

The man was evacuated to the Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva in critical condition, but died of his wounds shortly thereafter. Continue Reading »

IDF makes deal to remove Palestinian flag from Hebron roof

 

Arab resident says he agreed after IDF officer promised to release young neighbor that was arrested for throwing stones.

 

 

Israeli soldiers turned up for the second time on Saturday at a home in Hebron to order the removal of a Palestinian flag, even though the Israel Defense Forces said last week there is no policy against displaying flags.

Shadi Sider, a member of a Palestinian family living near the Jewish settlement enclave of Beit Hadassah, said the soldiers had arrested a neighbor for allegedly throwing stones and conditioned his release on the removal of the flag. Continue Reading »

IDF wounded three Palestinians in clashes near the Gaza border fence

Gazans have now incited confrontations with the IDF for the 2nd time in 5 days.

 

 

Three Palestinians were wounded Tuesday in clashes with Israeli soldiers in the northern Gaza Strip near the perimeter fence.

Palestinians said a press photographer had a moderate gunshot wound to the leg, while two other people were suffering from tear-gas inhalation. The Israel Defense Forces said hundreds of Palestinians had gathered in the area and threw stones at soldiers. The army responded with crowd-dispersal measures and later gunfire.

Netanyahu allows Jews to return to Machpelah house

 

Just hours after Hebron shooting of IDF soldier, PM Netanyahu issues order that authorizes Jews to return to Machpelah house, following fierce criticism from Right over upcoming terrorists’ release.

Following a string of terrorist attacks and political pressure from the Right, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a directive to allow Jews to move into Hebron’s Machpelah house. The move has already been sanctioned by the Judea and Samaria Military Court which ruled that the house was lawfully purchased last summer.

An Israeli soldier was killed on Sunday in a shooting attack near the West Bank city of Hebron.

The victim was named as Staff Sergeant Gal (Gabriel) Kobi, 20, of Tirat Hacarmel. He was evacuated to the Hadassah Hospital Ein Karem for treatment, and died of his wounds. Continue Reading »

The Israel Defense Forces has launched an investigation after Israeli soldiers from the elite Givati Brigade were captured on camera dancing with young Palestinians at a club in the Jabara neighborhood of Hebron, Channel 2 reported Wednesday.

MK Uri Ariel has called on the government to rescue the former Arab owner who sold a property to Jews near the Cave of the Patriarchs.

Knesset Member Uri Ariel (National Union) has called on the defense establishment to find a way to rescue the Arab who was the former owner of a property next to the Cave of the Patriarchs (Machpelah) recently sold to Jews in Hevron.

Jewish residents moved into the building overnight late Wednesday night, quietly, in an effort to avoid creating a disturbance in the area — but IDF forces immediately surrounded the building — newly named “Beit HaMachpelah” — and declared it a closed military zone. Continue Reading »

Several dozen settlers move into property located near Cave of Patriarchs; say they have legal ownership. Palestinian owner detained by PA police

Several dozen settlers have taken up residence in a Hebron house overnight, claiming they purchased it from its Palestinian owner.

Sources in Hebron said that the owner of the house, which is located near the Cave of the Patriarchs, was detained for questioning by the Palestinian police.

As soon as news of the move reached the defense establishment, large IDF forces arrived as the scene to maintain the order. No unusual events were noted on the premises overnight. Continue Reading »
