Same Terrorist Group that Fired on Israel Claims Credit For Beirut Attack

The Iranian ambassador to Lebanon accuses Israel of being behind the double suicide blast….but,

An Al Qaeda-linked terrorist group that fired multiple rockets on Israel from Lebanon, has claimed responsibility for attacking Iran’s embassy in Lebanon’s capital.

An Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group calling itself the Abdullah Azzam Brigades has claimed responsibility for the attack Tuesday on the Iranian embassy in Beirut. The attack killed 23 people, among them an Iranian attaché, and wounded an additional 146.

The attack was carried out by two suicide bombers.

Blasts in Beirut at Iranian embassy in Lebanese capital, death toll rises to 23 killed

 

Beirut residents report hearing 2 loud explosions near the Iranian embassy.

Local reports vary on whether blast caused by car bombs or rockets.

 

 

At least 23 people were killed Tuesday morning when an explosion rocked south Beirut. According to some reports, the explosion targeted the Iranian embassy.

Exiled dissidents report: Iran building new secret nuclear instillation

Iranian opposition group, which previously exposed the Natanz uranium enrichment plant and the Arak heavy-water facility are now reporting a new underground site that’s being built inside a 600-meter tunnel complex.

An exiled Iranian opposition group said on Monday it had information about an underground nuclear site being built in Iran and that this was among a number of secret venues for an atomic bomb program.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s threats of military action against Iranian nuclear sites, combined with the pressure of harsh Western sanctions that crippled the Iranian economy, might have helped bring the Islamic Republic to the negotiating table, US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel said, according to a Bloomberg report on Monday.

“It’s true that sanctions – not just US sanctions but UN sanctions, multilateral sanctions – have done tremendous economic damage,” Hagel told Jeffrey Goldberg last week.

U.S. negotiator on Iran: No sanctions lifted – Israel’s security is a priority

Chief U.S. negotiator for Iran, Wendy Sherman, says White House is committed to stopping Iran from advancing its nuclear program.

 

 

U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman, who is also chief U.S. negotiator for Iran‘s nuclear program, assured Israel that the U.S. has not offered Iran any sanctions relief and that Israeli security is a priority.

Iran’s supreme leader not optimistic about nuclear talks with world powers, criticizing the US for its close ties with Israel.

“The Zionist regime is an illegitimate and bastard regime,” Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Sunday said of Israel, whose existence Tehran does not recognize.

Khamenei also criticized the United States for its close relations with Israel.

“The Americans have the highest indulgence towards the Zionists and they have to. But we do not share such indulgence,” AFP quoted Khamenei as saying.

Khamenei also reiterated his view that he is not optimistic about the outcome of nuclear talks but said he saw no downside to holding the negotiations.

Nepal arrests Iranian for planning terror attack on Israeli embassy

An Iranian national carrying a forged Israeli passport was arrested on April 13 by security personnel from the Israeli embassy in the Nepalese capital Katmandu, Channel 2 News reported on Monday.

At least four people have been arrested in Iran for trying to sabotage a nuclear site, Iranian media reported Sunday.

The head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation, Ali Akbar Salehi, said officials had monitored and then arrested a “number of saboteurs” before they could carry out their plan.
