Chinese engineering firm to build $1b private shipping port in Ashdod

Now that China Harbor will be developing the port in Ashdod, Jerusalem can use this new port as a bargaining chip with dockworkers’ unions. No longer will the country be blackmailed with union strikes costing Israel millions in lost revenues.

The first private port to be developed under the state’s port reforms will be located in Ashdod and built by China Harbour Engineering Company, a Chinese government-owned firm, TheMarker has learned.

China Harbour, which won the international tender to construct two new private ports a week ago, opted Sunday to develop the southern port in Ashdod, instead of the northern one in Haifa.

Beijing buys Tnuva for NIS 8.6 billion ($2.45 billion)

The Chinese gov’t-owned Bright Food Group said all development, production & management will remain in Israel.

The Chinese government’s Bright Food Group signed an agreement this morning to buy control of Tnuva Food Industries Ltd. from Apax Partners. The sale is being made at a company value of NIS 8.6 billion which will bring a profit of NIS 4 billion to Apax, which has a 56 percent stake in the company, on which it will not be required to pay any tax.

Israel’s largest healthcare firm bought by Chinese

Chinese group buying Naftali Healthcare Solutions expected to be worth $100 million.

Guangzhou-based Jinpeng Group, a Chinese conglomerate focusing on information technology and services industries, will reportedly acquire Natali Healthcare Solutions, Israel’s largest private healthcare and homecare service provider.

The deal, worth about $100 million, is expected to be finalized soon, China Daily news reported Tuesday.

Naftali Healthcare Solutions was established in 1991, and holds a 60 percent stake in Israel’s elderly care market. It provides services such as doctor’s house calls, first aid telephone services and retirement solutions.

According to China Daily daily, the number of Chinese aged over 60 is expected to increase by 30 percent by the year 2050.

Haifa’s Technion gets $130m. grant for China joint venture

 

The grant to the Technion comes from the profits of the Chinese foundation’s 2011 investment in the Israeli mobile application ‘Waze’, which was recently acquired by Google at about $1 Billion.

 

 

The Technion-Israel Institute of Technology on Sunday received a $130 million grant to build an academy called the Technion Guangdong Institute of Technology as a joint venture with China’s Shantou University.

The grant, from the Li Ka Shing Foundation, includes profits from the foundation’s 2011 investment in Israeli mobile app Waze.
