India’s Foreign Minister Displays Classic Arab-Israel Juggling in Egypt

 

Since establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel & India in 1992, defense & agriculture have become the main pillars of bilateral engagements, notably among them being the Barak-I missile system for the Indian Navy.

India displayed its Mideast juggling this week as the country’s foreign minister said in Egypt Tuesday that India continued to support the Palestinian cause, just days after an Indian naval warship docked at Haifa in what New Delhi said was a sign of the “robust” ties between the two states.

Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, during a trip to Egypt on Tuesday, said that “our strong traditional support to the Palestinian cause remains unwavering even as we pursue good relations with Israel.” Continue Reading »

Israel trains India’s future leaders to make country next “Start Up Nation”

India Reports Deal Soon To Be Sealed on Joint Missile Development With Israel

The Times of India reported Thursday morning that India and Israel are close to signing a deal on developing a joint missile system.

Israel and India are close to a deal on developing a joint missile system, the Times of India reported Thursday.

Negotiators had “virtually sealed” the deal for medium-range surface-to-air missile system (MR-SAM) missiles which the Indian Army will purchase from Israeli developers, including Israel Aerospace Industries. The manufacturing will mostly take part in India.

Over the past 15 years, Israel has sold over $10 billion in defense systems and arms to India making Israel “among the top defense suppliers to India,” the Times of India said.

President Reuven Rivlin on Thursday afternoon hosted 20 Israeli ambassadors and diplomatic mission heads to Asian-Pacific countries at the Presidential Residence in Jerusalem.

“The friendly relationship between Israel and the rising powers in Asia represents an economic and strategic opportunity for both sides,” Rivlin told them. “As a state which seeks new markets for trade, the connection with Asia is more important than ever to Israel.”

The president stressed “Israel is more and more turning to face the East, we are witnessing cross-fertilization in the fields of education, industry, tourism, and security.”

Israel will be among 43 countries in the first phase of India’s new program to issue electronic visas to visitors with which it has diplomatic relations, Business Standard announced Wednesday.

The list will be issued Thursday, as is expected to include most European Union states, as well as Russia, South Africa, Turkey, Oman, Argentina and Kazakhstan.
