Israel’s President Rivlin in India to further expand bilateral cooperation

 

With both nations seeking to augment cooperation with one another, Rivlin will meet with Indian President Mukherjee as well as PM Modi in an effort to promote projects in the fields of defense, agriculture and water technologies.

President Reuven Rivlin and his wife landed in India on Monday morning for a state visit at the invitation of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee as the two nations seek to advance their bilateral cooperation.

During the visit, President Rivlin will join President Mukherjee in opening an agro-tech conference in the city of Chandigarh, hold meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, and visit several sites of cooperation and joint projects between the two countries. India successfully conducts latest test of jointly developed Barak 8 missile system

 

Barak 8, vital in any future Israeli conflict with Hezbollah, is a jointly developed Indian-Israeli surface-to-air missile (SAM), designed to defend against any type of airborne threat including anti-ship missiles, cruise missiles and aircraft such as drones (UAVs) helicopters, and combat jets out to a maximum range of 70 km. has once more been successfully tested by the Indian government on Tuesday.

Israel launches tourism ad campaign for India TV

 

Israel’s Tourism Ministry invests $1.5 million in TV ad campaign to encourage tourism from India to the Holy Land, with a set goal of 100,000 visiting tourists by 2018.

Israel’s Tourism Ministry is looking to break into the Asian market, with the launch of its first major TV advertising campaign in India to promote incoming tourism to Israel.

According to the Tourism Ministry, India is one of the major emerging markets for incoming tourism to Israel.

“The experiential campaign that we have launched in India has been adapted to the particular characteristics and tastes of the Indian market,” elaborated Tourism Minister Yariv Levin, who noted that Israel is also engaged in significant marketing campaigns in China. Continue Reading »

Israel Air Force begins in USAF’s Red Flag exercise with Pakistan, UAE

 

Not only is the IAF currently participating in a joint military exercise alongside the UAE, Pakistan and Spain, but next month Israeli pilots are to carry out a ‘first of its kind’ exercise in India.

The Israel Air Force is taking part in the ongoing Red Flag aerial exercise alongside UAE, Pakistan and Spain, a US military spokesperson told i24news, the first official confirmation of Pakistan and the UAE’s heavily rumored participation.

The advanced training exercise kicked off Monday and will go on until August 26.

Watch: India successfully tests Israel’s Barak 8 defensive missile

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), which produces the missile, carried out a successful joint test with the Indian Ministry of Defense and Indian Air Force. Israel delighted as tourism from China & India continue to grow

 

Tourism from China grows 43% to some 50,000, from India up 13% to nearly 40,000 visitors in 2015, and with Chinese carrier to launch nonstop flights next month from Beijing to Tel Aviv, the Tourism Ministry sees visitors doubling by 2018.

Israel is looking east to China and India to help drive tourism, as visits to the country have yet to fully recover from the 2014 Gaza war, Tourism Ministry Director General Amir Halevi said.

New Delhi and Jerusalem to sign huge weapons deal

India and Israel are set to sign a $3 billion weapons deal preceding Indian PM Narendra Modi’s first official visit to the Jewish State.

A $3 billion weapons deal is to be signed between Israel and India ahead of a historic planned visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Holy Land.

India is planning to buy 164 laser systems for its air force, specifically for its Sukhoi-30MKI and Jaguar planes, and 250 precision guided bunker busting bombs, according to a report in The Times of India on Tuesday.

India successfully test-fired on Wednesday the Barak 8, a new long range surface-to-air missile capable of countering aerial threats at extended ranges, which was jointly developed with Israel.

The Israel Aerospace Industries, which held a successful test of the Barak 8 missile last month, said that the two tests held by the Indian Navy on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning complete a series of three consecutive tests which “reinforces the impressive operational capabilities of the system,” said IAI director Yossi Weiss. In a joint Israel & Indian development project that is due to become officially operational in both navies within a year or two, the missile is currently installed on at least one Israel Navy ship, and on an Indian Navy ship.

 

The Israel Navy and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) carried out the first successful interception test of the next generation Barak 8 missile system on Thursday, which is designed to protect naval ships and offshore gas rigs from hostile aircraft, missiles, and rockets.

The City of Tel Aviv-Yafo announced on Monday an agreement to assist in creating ‘smart cities’ around India.

In partnership with the Mumbai-based NGO Delivering Change Foundation (DCF), Israeli representatives were slated to mentor, train, consult and escort Indian city officials with technological urban transformation.

Israel’s President Reuven Rivlin received the President of the Republic of India, Pranab Mukherjee, on the latter’s first state visit to Israel. In his greeting to the Indian leader, Rivlin mentioned the problems that both countries face in the security arena, saying: “We are working together to protect the security of both nations from terrorism and fundamentalism.”

India orders 10 missile-armed UAVs from Israel in $400M deal

 

The purchase order of Heron UAVs isn’t their first, but this expedited procurement came from the highest levels of the Indian government.

The Indian government has approved plans to purchase 10 missile-armed drones from Israel, according to India’s Economic Times. The news outlet described the acquisition as “a crucial acquisition that will enhance India’s cross-border military strike capability.”

The $400 million deal to buy Heron TP drones was expedited through the procurement process under orders from the highest levels of government.
