Turkey was the 1st country to send planes to help with the terrible Carmel forest fire in Israel, which once again proved its friendship after the dreadful ‘Marmara earthquake’. Other ‘friendly countries’ recommended help, but Turkey sent it.

Turkey has sheltered Jews since Ottoman times. The Turkish people have a particular culture and conception of religion; Turkish people may go hungry, but they will make sure their neighbors have food. They will watch over them more than themselves. Their Jewish neighbors have always been very important for the Turkish people.

Turkey requests cooperation with Israel in importing Israeli natural gas

Turkey’s building conglomerate Zorlu Group will construct an undersea pipeline from Israel’s offshore gas-platform to Turkey’s southern coast.

The Turkish conglomerate Zorlu Group has been working in recent months to convince the Israeli government and the Leviathan gas field partners to approve energy exports to Turkey, TheMarker has learned.

Zorlu’s plan is to lay an undersea pipeline from the Leviathan field 130 kilometers off Haifa to Turkey’s south coast. The pipeline would deliver between 8 billion and 10 billion cubic meters of gas annually. Continue Reading »

Israel hints at ‘letter of regret’ to Turkey over ‘Marmara Fiasco’

 

Ayalon tells Turkey’s ‘Hürriyet’ that Israel may attempt to smooth relations by using diplomatic language; FM Liberman advocates “expression of regret.”

Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon told Turkish daily Hürriyet on Thursday that Israel may use diplomatic language inspired by the letter sent by Washington to Islamabad over the killing of 24 Pakistani soldiers in order end the impasse with Ankara.

Danny Ayalon“I see some kind of improvement and opportunities,” Ayalon was quoted as saying, citing the “American-Pakistani formula” as an idea to renegotiate relations.

“Remember, recently there were 24 Pakistani soldiers killed by mistake by American forces, and the Americans sent a letter that was accepted in Pakistan.

Israel to join NATO activities for 2013

Israel’s addition into the 2013 NATO activities follows granting Turkey’s request for deployment of Patriot missiles along their border with Syria.

WASHINGTON – Israel has received approval to participate in NATO activities in 2013 that had been held up amid tensions with Turkey, Israeli officials told The Jerusalem Post.

Turkey’s PM Erdogan claims Israel is ‘terrorist state’

Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, is scheduled to travel to Gaza with a group of foreign ministers from the Arab League.

ISTANBUL – Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan described Israel on Monday as a “terrorist state” in carrying out its bombardment of Gaza, underlining hostility for Ankara’s former ally since relations between them collapsed in 2010.

His comments came after nearly a week of Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel and Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip. An Israeli missile killed at least 11 Palestinian civilians including four children in Gaza on Sunday.

Israel’s Elta continues equipping Turkish spy jets

Turkish Newspaper reports that Israeli firm resumes production of measuring systems meant to be installed on Turkish early warning jets.

An Israeli company has decided to resume the production of equipment meant to be installed on Turkish spy planes, the Hurriyet Daily News reported Friday, citing unnamed sources.

According to the Turkish paper, Elta Systems Ltd. was commissioned in 2002 to manufacture electronic measuring systems for four Turkish Boeing early warning and control aircraft. The deal was reportedly worth $100 million.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday described as “very weird,” the diplomats sent by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyhu to help negotiate a re-normaliztion of relations between the two countries, Turkish daily Today’s Zaman reported Friday. Ties between Turkey and Israel were strained following the 2010 Mavi Marmara incident, in which IDF commandos killed nine Turkish citizens attempting to break the blockade on Gaza.

Ankara to return UAV’s purchased from Israel

Turkey says there are technical problems with the UAV’s & it will sue for damages after Israel failed to repair them.
Israel Aerospace Industries says it doesn’t know of any problems with the drones.

Turkey announced on Saturday that it would return three unmanned aerial vehicles it had purchased from Israel, and that it would seek payment for damages for what it says was Israel’s breach of the sale agreement, according to a report in the Turkish media.

According to Turkish news agency NTV, as quoted by Army Radio, Turkish officials said technical defects had been discovered in the Heron model drones, and that the Israeli government had refused on several occasions to repair them in accordance with their official agreement.

Turkish firm gets Israeli loan for natural gas production in Israel

The Ashdod and Ramat natural gas facilities in Israel have been granted a loan of more tharn 1.1 billion Israeli Shekels ($277 million) by Israeli lenders, according to a Zorlu press release. Zorlu Enerji holds a 42.15 percent stake in the natural gas facilities and the remaining 57.85 percent stake is owned by Edeltech Ltd.

Netanyahu’s outreach for dialogue with Erdogan was rejected

Turkey tourism is down by 6%

 North American, European tourists decide to waive Turkish destinations following steep fall in number of Israeli tourists to visit Euro-Asian country

The current economic and political turmoil in Europe has taken its toll on the Turkish tourism industry which suffered a significant decline in the number of tourists visiting the country, according to data published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (Turkstat).

Tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2012 dropped by 6%, compared to the previous year.
