British Ambassador: GB vehemently opposes Israel boycott

Amb. Matthew Gould at celebration for queen’s birthday says Great Britain “clearly & unambiguously opposes” Israeli boycotts.

 


The British government vehemently opposes boycotts of Israel, British Ambassador to Israel Matthew Gould affirmed Monday night “clearly and unambiguously,” as his embassy hosted a celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s 87th birthday. “They (boycotts) do nothing to build understanding, they put up walls when we should be tearing them down,” he asserted.

While Gould acknowledged that the two countries “don’t always agree on everything,” pointing to the issue of settlements, he said that “the important thing is that we disagree as friends, and we will stand alongside Israel as a friend.”

British MP Honors Israeli Ambassador Shot on London Street

British MP Alistair Burt attended a memorial ceremony for former Israeli ambassador Shlomo Argov, who was shot outside London’s Dorchester Hotel over 30 years ago, The Jewish Chronicle (JC) reported.

British MP Alistair BurtThe ceremony, held outside the hotel in Mayfair, commemorated the death of the former Israel ambassador who was shot on the night of June 3, 1982, but died ten years ago from injuries inflicted by the attack.

Argov, who died aged 73 in 2003, was shot in the head at point-blank range by three attackers, affiliated with Abu Nidal’s Palestine National Liberation Movement terrorist group. Continue Reading »

In an attempt to strengthen future water innovation partnerships between Israel and the United Kingdom, the British Embassy will be bringing 14 water technology companies to an upcoming UK water summit.

Leading the companies to London for the World Water-Tech Investment Summit will be the embassy’s UK-Israel Tech Hub, whose mission is to encourage technological partnerships between the two countries as a mechanism for economic growth, according to the embassy.

Do UK taxpayers know they fund anti-Israel groups?

When the British taxpayer-funded Hebron Rehabilitation Committee issued a statement in August describing a terror attack by Islamic Jihad as a “heroic operation”, it should have been met with a very swift and severe response from the British Government, and a review of the Foreign Office’s funding practices. Sky News reported that the suspension of trade agreements with the Jewish state is also among the sanctions under consideration in the UK
