Capture of Iran ship’s weapons cause greater interest in Arab world than West

Netanyahu and senior military officials showcased the deadly arsenal on board seized Iranian ship, vowing to expose Iran’s true face.

While the media in the Western world showed no interest in Israel’s grand display of the weaponry sezied from the Iranian ship Klos C, and the first official American condemnation only arrived six days after the ship’s capture, it was the Arab world’s press that showed the most interest in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bid to show Iran’s real face.

In the respected New York Times, there was no mention of the event Monday, in which Netanyahu, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon and Navy

Iconic Israeli newspaper Maariv has not printed its Sunday edition as its publisher is seeking to keep the paper from collapse.

Maariv was first published in 1948 with the establishment of Israel, and was once the country’s largest paper. But it has been the brink of closure in recent years, struggling to compete with free offerings like Israel Today, owned by casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, which has taken some of the paper’s top writers. Hamas closes Al Arabiya & 2 other media offices in Gaza

Gaza’s Islamist rulers Hamas closed the offices of three media companies, including the Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television and Palestinian news agency Maan, on Thursday, employees and a Hamas spokesman said.

Haaretz News Writer ‘Wins’ the 2012 Booby Prize for ‘Dishonest Reporting’

The HonestReporting website, which tracks media bias against Israel, awards Haaretz writer Gideon Levy the “Dishonest Reporting Prize” for 2012.

The media watch site explained that although it traditionally cites international media for faulty reporting, it cited Levy as the worst offender this year because foreign media often base their reports on Haaretz, the most popular left-wing newspaper in Israel.

The newspaper  denies it is anti-religious or anti-Zionist, but only the most left-wing liberals, and non-Israelis who do not really know the country, could view it otherwise. Continue Reading »
