Contrary to Kerry’s statement, PA has submitted official bid to join 15 int’l conventions

 

Palestinians say because Israel won’t free more prisoners, Palestine has formally requested to become signatory to treaties on apartheid & the laws of war.

 

The Palestinian Authority officially asked Wednesday that the state of Palestine become a signatory to 15 international conventions.

The request was made by Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Maliki, who met with Robert Serry, the United Nations special coordinator for the Middle East peace process, and Swiss and Dutch envoys to the Palestinian Authority.

Maliki told the diplomats that the Palestinian request came in response to Israel’s failure to release the fourth batch of prisoners it said it would free if peace talks progressed.

Czech Police: Palestinian Envoy Killed by Explosive He Was Holding

 

In contradiction of initial Embassy claims, Czech police now report Palestinian ambassador Jamal al-Jamal was not killed by booby-trapped safe.

The explosion that killed the ambassador at the Palestinian Embassy complex in Prague was not caused by a booby-trapped safe as previously believed, Czech investigators said Monday.

Police said that their investigation has revealed that the blast that killed Ambassador Jamal al-Jamal on Jan. 1 did not occur inside the safe and no explosive device was part of the safe. Continue Reading »

1st Time Ever: Palestinian students visit Auschwitz in organized visit

Visit to Nazi death camp is aimed to teach Israeli & Palestinian students about the other side’s suffering, in effort to see how empathy can facilitate reconciliation.

 

A group of 30 Palestinian students arrived at Auschwitz-Birkenau on Thursday, in what is believed to be the first organized visit by Palestinian students to a Nazi death camp.

The students are spending several days in Kraków and Oświęcim guided by two Jewish Holocaust survivors.

A news blackout on the trip was requested by the organizers.

IDF makes deal to remove Palestinian flag from Hebron roof

 

Arab resident says he agreed after IDF officer promised to release young neighbor that was arrested for throwing stones.

 

 

Israeli soldiers turned up for the second time on Saturday at a home in Hebron to order the removal of a Palestinian flag, even though the Israel Defense Forces said last week there is no policy against displaying flags.

Palestinians ask UN to make Green Line a red one ‘seen from space’

Palestinians want new ‘Red Line’ to become the 1967 line’s new name and want the boundary visible from space.

The Palestinian Authority will ask the United Nations to change the color of the demarcation line that represents Israel’s pre-1967 borders, replacing the Green Line with a red one.

Gaza Terrorists Barrage Southern Israel Firing 20 Rockets

 

IDF’s Iron Dome intercepts 3 rockets as residents in Southern Israel are told to stay within protected areas.

 

 

A barrage of rockets was fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel on Wednesday evening.

At least 20 missiles struck various locations near the Strip. One missile hit Sderot, and others landed in the areas near Netivot, Shaar Hanegev Regional Council and Sdot Negev. Area residents have been called to stay within protected areas.

A preliminary investigation into Monday’s killing of a Jordanian judge at the Allenby crossing suggests the man ran toward an Israeli soldier screaming “Allah hu Akbar” (Arabic for “God is great”) and tried to steal his weapon, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

Palestinians Complain to UN Over Jewish Presence on Temple Mount

 

Palestinian Authority reports to the UN that increased Jewish visits & Knesset debates over Temple Mount sovereignty are ‘provocative’

The Palestinian Authority’s mission to the United Nations last week filed an official complaint over a growing Jewish presence on and claims to Jerusalem’s Temple Mount.

Riyad Mansour, the PA’s observer at the UN, said that regular visits to the Temple Mount by Jewish worshippers and Israeli officials were “provocative” and could further enrage the entire Muslim Arab world.

The seizure of a shipment of long-range missiles heading from Iran to the Gaza Strip was definitely an amazing success for Israel’s intelligence agencies and Navy. WASHINGTON – It was tough not to notice the significant differences between U.S. President Barack Obama’s withering criticism of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a Bloomberg interview published on Sunday, and the praise he heaped on the Israeli leader in front of the cameras at the White House a mere 24 hours later.

In advance of President’s meeting with Netanyahu at White House, Obama hints that the White House will be unable to protect Israel from “int’l fallout” if peace process fails and settlement construction continues.

 

America’s ability to “manage the international fallout is going to be limited” if Israel does not strike a peace deal with the Palestinians and there is “continued aggressive settlement construction,” US President Barack Obama said in an interview published on the eve of his Monday meeting with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

IDF wounded three Palestinians in clashes near the Gaza border fence

Gazans have now incited confrontations with the IDF for the 2nd time in 5 days.

 

 

Three Palestinians were wounded Tuesday in clashes with Israeli soldiers in the northern Gaza Strip near the perimeter fence.

Palestinians said a press photographer had a moderate gunshot wound to the leg, while two other people were suffering from tear-gas inhalation. The Israel Defense Forces said hundreds of Palestinians had gathered in the area and threw stones at soldiers. The army responded with crowd-dispersal measures and later gunfire.

Jordanian tribe distancing from Sheikh after claims Israel belongs to Jews

 

Sheikh Ahmed Aladoan, who visited Israel last year, supports the idea that Jordan is Palestine, and based his assertions that Palestinian claims to Israel are erroneous, not supported by the Koran.

 

A sheikh from Jordan’s prominent Adwan tribe caused a stir recently when he said that Israel belongs to the Jews, and that Palestinian claims to the territory are false.

Sheikh Ahmed Aladoan of Amman, who made the remarks on his Facebook page, based his assertions on the Koran. In a post earlier this month he said that those who “distort the word of the Koran” are liars, and questioned the origins of the word Palestine.
