Hamas Politburo Chief Khaled Mashaal said his Islamist movement Hamas is willing to accept a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders or 22% of “historical Palestine.”

According to Mashaal, this has been Hamas’ mission and what it has been fighting for since its inception. Egyptian Court Rejects Petition to Nullify Egypt’s Peace Treaty with Israel

Israel Radio reported that the court in Cairo decreed it lacks the authority to rule on matters of Egyptian sovereignty, saying only the president could make such decisions.

A court that deals with administrative issues in Cairo rejected a petition to cancel the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel on Tuesday, according to a report by Israel Radio.

The court reportedly ruled that it does not have the legal right to decide on the treaty as it is a matter of sovereignty rather than legality.

Call to ‘Free Al Aqsa’ Sounded at News Conference in Cairo

Egyptian jurists and politicians have issued calls to “liberate” the Al Aqsa mosque on the Temple Mount, and to restore Egypt’s leading role in the Arab world.

Participants in a news conference in Cairo on October 25 said that the “liberation” of Jerusalem by Muslims will be accomplished “without a doubt” by the present generation, which brought about the change in Arab regimes, and that the peace treaty with Israel was just an act of deception that led to the “loss of the homeland.” Continue Reading »

Israel’s FM Rejects any Amendments to Peace Treaty with Egypt

Israel has rejected the idea of any modification to its 1979 peace treaty with Egypt.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman dismissed any possibility of altering the treaty during a radio interview in Israel Sunday morning. “There is not the slightest possibility that Israel will accept the modification of the peace treaty with Israel,” he said, according to AFP. “We will not accept any modification of the Camp David Accords.

The comments came as tensions rise between Egypt and Israel, with speculation the government of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood-backed President Mohammed Morsi is considering a plan to alter parts of the treaty. Continue Reading »

As a result of the increasing power of the Muslim Brotherhood and the even more extreme Salafi parties, the outcome of the ongoing Egyptian elections is looking grim and many westerners are deeply concerned.  Although Khairat el-Shater of the Muslim Brotherhood and Hazem Salah Abu Ismail of the Salafi Al Nour party have now been disqualified, the Muslim Brotherhood nevertheless has 105 seats in the Shura Council and together with the Salafi Islamic Bloc’s 45 seats, they occupy a majority of the 270 seats. Five days after an Israeli couple professed its love for the Iranian people over Facebook, the campaign continued to make waves in the global media.

CNN‘s website dedicated a prime spot for the campaign Tuesday, exposing its readers to what was quickly turning into the week’s most heartwarming story.

“It is not possible to dial an Iranian number from an Israeli telephone,” the article read. “It will simply not go through… That is why it was so difficult for Ronny Edry, an Israeli graphic designer based in Tel Aviv, to get his message across to the people of Iran.” Continue Reading »
