By David Lev

Justice Minister Tzippy Livni on Sunday spoke with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, discussing the possibility that Israel would pay reparations to the families of nine Turkish supporters of Hamas who were killed in 2010 aboard the Mavi Marmara, after they attempted to attack and murder IDF soldiers as part of the Gaza flotilla.

Turkey’s vice-premier, Bulenbt Arink, told Turkish media Sunday that a meeting and discussion in compensation had taken place, but gave no details. Continue Reading »

Turks Appreciate Israel’s Apology

Netanyahu did the right thing in the right manner and with the right words.

The Turkish newspaper’s headline reads: “Sorry.”

By: Sinem Tezyapar

It is unpleasant when two long-friendly countries behave like enemies. Many have been uneasy seeing Israel and Turkey growing distant, even if only in the political arena. Friendship, love, trust and affinity are most valued universally, so I would like my Israeli friends to know that we, the Turkish nation, cherish our friendship with the Israelis and thus appreciate the prime minister’s apology as a virtuous act, and we are excited to leave this regrettable incident behind and to be able to move forward. My View from Istanbul: When, How Did Hatred Become a Religion?

The more a Muslim country is opposed to  America & Israel, the more prestige it has gained among other Muslim countries. Hatred has become a sign of religious devotion. Hatred has become religion.

By Aylin Kocaman

For some, religious devotion has long been “hatred”. If a Muslim hates Jews, Christians, Zionists and Freemasons, then that is considered being devout. Some religious teachers and people who claim to be scholars have enjoyed a great deal of success in that way; they have made a niche for themselves and so much so that the more they have expressed a policy of hatred of Jews, the more crimes they have laid at America’s door, and the more damage they have inflicted on other schools, the more admiration they have acquired. New Muslim dream for the Temple Mount

Op-ed: Devout Muslim dreams of a Jerusalem holy site where people of all faiths pray together.

By Sinem Tezyapar

The unique importance of the Temple Mount to Judaism and to Islam makes the location vulnerable to tensions and conflicts between Jews and Muslims. Usually, these incidents originate in rumors such as: “The Jews are coming today to bomb the mosques and build their Third Temple.” Obviously, false accusations and baseless suspicions such as these turn the site from a holy place of prayer and love into a site of violent political demonstrations. The potential escalation of tension brings on more restrictions and discomfort to all. Continue Reading »

For some Muslims, ‘Zionism’ means something completely different

After 1000’s of years, we are now witnessing God’s promise in the Qur’an & in the Torah, with our own eyes, in the return of the Jews to Israel.

By AYLIN KOCAMAN

Many Muslims dislike the word “Zionism.” A great many of these are actually people who like Jews. They have no complaint about the existence of Israel. But they always object to the word Zionism. In their eyes, Zionists are bad people who cause war and unrest. Zionists are supposedly even behind many tragedies in the world.

The reason for this is that for years the name Zionism has been thought to be part of the different and false belief known as “goyim.” Continue Reading »

Imagine Pan-Turkish Union with Israel & Arabs as Equals

Imagine a union among all the countries of  North Africa, the Middle East, & the Caucasus.

As I normally request when publishing an exciting article by Sinem Tezyapar, if all you have to contribute is that she shouldn’t be trusted for whatever reason—kindly keep that to yourself. I encourage our educated readers to argue with and even shoot down anything Sinem offers, but, please, respect my personal guarantee, based on a fairly long relationship with her and her movement, that she absolutely means what she says.

Daniel Pipes talks Turkey

Turks worry less about Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s Islamic aspirations than about his nationalist and dictatorial tendencies.

By Daniel Pipes

The menu on my Turkish Airlines flight earlier this month assured passengers that food selections “do not contain pork.” But it also offered a serious selection of alcoholic drinks, including champagne, whisky, gin, vodka, raki, wine, beer, liqueur and cognac.

This oddity of simultaneously adhering to and ignoring Islamic Shariah law symbolizes the uniquely complex public role of Islam in today’s Turkey, as well as the challenge of understanding the Justice and Development Party (known by its Turkish abbreviation, AKP) which has dominated the country’s national government since 2002.

Turkey: Israel ‘Playing With Fire’ with its plan to build in Jerusalem

Abdullah Gül, the Turkish President said that Israel was “playing with fire” with its plans to build in Jerusalem and in the E-1 area

By David Lev

Turkish President Abdullah Gül said that Israel was “playing with fire” with its plans to build in Jerusalem and the E1 area. “Israel’s actions will just hurt her in the mid- and long-term, its isolation will grow, and its allies will be placed in a difficult position,” Gül was quoted by Turkish media as saying.
