Sky News Arabia reported on August 9th that opponents of Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi were put to death and hanged from trees or crucified outside the presidential palace in Egypt. The story was removed shortly after being posted on the Internet.

First innovative bullet-proof grenade developed by the IDF

The Israel Defense Forces have developed a first-of-its-kind grenade that doesn’t explode when struck by a bullet.

The bullet-proof grenade was developed following a March 2010 incident on the Gaza Strip border in which two IDF soldiers were killed when a bullet hit a grenade lodged in the vest of one of the soldiers, causing it to detonate.

Corrie Family Seeking Justice in Upcoming Court Ruling

Rachel Corrie’s parents & sister hope the court will find the IDF responsible for her accidental 2003 death in Gaza.

Craig, Cindy and Sarah Corrie (Simpson) said on Sunday they hope that after nearly 10 years, the Haifa District Court will find the IDF responsible in the death of their daughter Rachel, 23, in Rafah, the southern Gaza Strip. A verdict is expected on Tuesday.

She was killed in disputed circumstances on March 16, 2003, while protesting an IDF home demolition.

In a wide-ranging interview with The Jerusalem Post, Cindy described herself as “naive” when the trial started two years ago about what it would look like and its ability to reveal more about what led to her daughter’s death and how the investigation was conducted.

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas frequently refers to the “alleged” Jewish Temple, but if it was not Jewish, there is no basis for Christian belief, as written in the New Testament in Matthew (21:12), that Jewish “moneychangers” chased Jesus from the Holy Temple. However, Christians so far have not reacted to the implicit denial of their belief.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has backtracked on a request to make changes to his foreign and domestic investment portfolio, saying he wants to avoid fueling rumors about a potential strike on Iranian nuclear facilities.

A special committee in the State Comptroller’s Office’s approved the prime minister’s request on August 15. In its decision, it stated that given the volatility of the global and Israeli economies, “there is a need to allow additional instructions to be made to the trustee of [Netanyahu’s] blind trust.”

A Qassam rocket exploded in an open area outside Sderot Monday. No injuries or damage were reported.

The Color Red alert sounded in the area ahead of the explosion.

The fire came as the city’s schoolchildren were entering their classrooms, ahead of the first day of the new school year.

Sunday also saw Gaza fire on Israel’s southern communities as three rockets were fired at the western Negev.

One rocket hit the southern city of Sderot, the second hit Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council and the third rocket landed in an open area. Continue Reading »

In a new study, Weizmann Institute scientists proved it’s possible to learn while you’re asleep.

A new study by Weizmann Institute scientists has proven it’s possible to learn in your sleep.

The findings of the study, published today in Nature Neuroscience, state that if certain odors are presented after tones during sleep, people will start sniffing when they hear the tones alone – even when no odor is present – both during sleep and later, when awake.

Asbestos is an extremely hazardous material. Its carcinogenic properties have resulted in a ban on its use in many nations worldwide, including Israel.

For the first time, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas responded on Sunday to Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s letter to the Quartet’s foreign ministers calling for general elections to replace him. The Quartet, made up of the United States, the United Nations, the European Union and Russia, is involved in mediating the Middle East peace process.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said Sunday that he would not allow Iran to divide the Palestinians.

Abbas’s comments came after reports that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had invited Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh to attend the meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Tehran, beginning on Sunday. In a new American Academy of Pediatrics report set to be released Monday, specific benefits include prevention of penile cancer, urinary tract infections, & the transmission of some sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.

Amid the recent uproar among Jewish communities around the world and in Israel over a recent ruling by a German regional court to outlaw male circumcision, the American Academy of Pediatrics is set to release a new report on Monday validating evidence that indicates the health benefits of newborn circumcision.

According to the academy’s report, the benefits of circumcision outweigh the risks and justify access to the procedure for families who choose it.

Egyptian Report: Egypt refuses a US request to inspect Iranian arms shipment to Syria

Suez Canal Authority chairman tells Al-Ahram newspaper Egyptian navy refused to inspect Iranian ship’s cargo; Egypt’s President Morsi will attend Tehran summit later this month.

 

Egypt has recently turned down a U.S. request to stop an Iranian ship carrying weapons to Syria, according to a report in Egypt’s Al-Ahram newspaper.

Rocket Attacks Resumes as a Kassam Hits Sderot Building

Gaza terrorists fired three Kassam rockets on the Western Negev Sunday, one of them damaging a building in the industrial area near Sderot, located less than one mile “as the rocket flies” from northern Gaza.

One person was lightly wounded and a second was treated for shock.

Terrorists from Hamas-controlled Gaza have continually attacked the Western Negev since the government expelled Jews from Gush Katif and withdrew all IDF personnel in the summer of 2005.
