Palestinian Authority Report: Palestinians Prefer Purchasing ‘Made in Israel’

BDS steaming after a Palestinian Authority report showed 70% of the Authority’s imports were from Israel, with total imports worth $3.5 billion entering the West Bank from Israel.

Last month, BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) activists slammed Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas for not joining in with them to boycott Israel – and on Monday, the PA revealed just how uninvolved it was in the BDS movement. According to a PA report, 70% of the PA’s imports were from Israel, with imports worth $3.5 billion entering the Authority from Israel.

It should be noted that Israel generally does not restrict imports of consumer goods to the PA, and that Israeli goods compete on Palestinian store shelves with goods from Arab countries and Europe as well as from the PA. Continue Reading »

Israeli columnist & professor, Barry Rubin, dies aged 64

Prolific writer & academic, Barry Rubin, succumbed to his 18-month battle with cancer.

 

 

Professor, political analyst and writer Barry Rubin passed away on Monday at the age of 64.

Rubin’s death was announced on his Facebook page: “To our great sadness, Barry Rubin passed away this morning. He was surrounded by his wife and children. Your love, support, and prayers have been greatly appreciated. There will be shiva and a funeral, details to follow soon.”

According to posts on social media, Rubin had been battling cancer for the past 18 months and had fallen into a coma on Sunday night. Continue Reading »

Jerusalem Offers Turkey $20 Million Compensation for Mavi Marmara Incident

Israel has offered to pay $20 million in “compensation” to the families of Turkish citizens killed during the 2010 Mavi Marmara flotilla, which tried to illegally break the IDF blockade on the terror group Hamas in Gaza. Nine Turkish Islamists were killed as they violently attacked IDF soldiers who boarded their ship.

Abbas suggests a NATO presence instead of IDF in future Palestine

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has called for an American-led NATO presence in a future Palestinian state, according to a New York Times interview published Sunday.

The NATO mission Abbas proposed in talks with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry would last indefinitely and include troop patrols throughout the West Bank and Gaza, at all checkpoints and within Jerusalem, according to the Times.

Abbas said Israeli military presence and settlements in the West bank could be gradually removed for up to five years after a peace agreement is signed – a departure from the three years he previously proposed. Continue Reading »

Egyptian prosecutors have accused the eight of espionage and supplying Israel with information impacting Egypt’s national security, the sources said on Sunday.

Jews who were exiled from Arab nations see compensation as historic justice

 

Echoing the claims requested by many Sephardic Jews attempting to find balance between past grievances & future prospects, Minister Silvan Shalom said the matter of paying compensation to Jews from Arab countries who were forced to leave behind homes, lands, and businesses in 1948, ‘We should get what we deserve’.
